Can my wife extend her Visa on Arrival in Thailand, or can we exit and re-enter to obtain another one?

Hello everyone, my question is regarding my wife who obtained the Visa on Arrival as an Indian Passport holder which is valid for 15

Days. We are currently staying in Koh Samui and I’m aware there’s an immigration office there. We are hopeful of extending our stay and while it’s fairly easy for me (Australian passport) it’s difficult for her. I was wondering:

1) is it possible to get an extension of time for the visa on arrival?

2) I’m aware that India is on the prescribed list of countries that consulates in the nearby countries won’t quickly grant a tourist visa, and that there are restrictions on visas for Indians in terms of crossing the land borders. Would it be possible to fly out of Thailand for a few days and then fly back in again thereby getting another visa on arrival at the airport as long as we have an onward ticket and all the other requirements?

Grateful in advance for your advice

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about extending their wife's Visa on Arrival as an Indian passport holder in Thailand, specifically in Koh Samui. They ask if it is feasible to extend the visa or if they can exit Thailand and re-enter to obtain a new Visa on Arrival. Comments from the community suggest that re-entering after flying out might work, but there are risks of needing to provide proof of funds and onward travel.

the flying out and in could work but they run a chance of being asked to show proof of funds, proof of onward travel when the stamp in (which is pretty standard for people from VOA countries)

the posted rule is 10K baht or the equivalent BUT I'd have them have 20K baht or the equivalent as that's what reports are passport control asks for even on VOA entries.

remember if they're asked for proof of funds when stamping into the country they have to show CASH not a bank account

Hi yeah the guy below is a Tourist Visa, not a visa on arrival, so a bit different.

Possible providing you fly somewhere that is either visa exempt entry for Indian passport holders or will issue a VOA.

thanks for the quick reply, yes it’s possible to get either an e-visa or visa on arrival for a few countries nearby such as Malaysia, Singapore, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia. My main concern was it being the second VoA in a shorter space of time, but I assume it’ll be ok with the confirmed flight out and such. Thanks for the response
