I have some relatives coming to visit me and one of them is a Indian citizen. They didn't realise until after they booked the tickets that he only got 15 days with the VOA, he could get a tourist visa from my country since he have a PR there but the process is much longer for non citizens so it might be too late now.

Would immigration hassle him if he did a trip to Malaysia and fly back in for a 2nd VOA? Last time they visited Thailand was 12 months ago and they spent 1 week here.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Indian citizen can encounter issues when attempting to do a visa run from Malaysia to re-enter Thailand using a visa on arrival (VOA), especially if their return flight exceeds the 15-day limit of the VOA. Additionally, they may face challenges concerning the necessity of return tickets and potential visa requirements for Malaysia. Recent updates indicate that the VOA for Indian nationals may have been canceled temporarily, necessitating the need for a pre-arranged tourist visa for entry.

Just a heads up, the VOA program has been temporarily canceled. If your relatives from India hasn't visited you yet, they *WILL NEED* a tourist visa before they are allowed to enter.

Hi. So the plane won’t let your Indian relative board if the ticket is longer than 15 days as per the VOA. Indian nationals typically can’t do a visa run to Malaysia (may need a visa also to enter) & Singapore they need a visa also. You can get a Singapore visa in Bangkok within a few days.

Have Malaysia stopped issuing the eNTRI for Indian nationals?

Do your relatives have a return ticket booked? Or a flight out of thailand booked?

There could be an issue at the airport of departure if his return flight is not within the 15 day window of his VOA, it all depends on the check in staff, some are worse than others.

I don't see why that would be a problem though. The OP can get a flight from India to Thailand, and then a round trip ticket from Thailand to Malaysia (for example), and then a one way ticket from Thailand to India.

I don't think so. I believe they can get unlimited visa on arrivals.
