My wife and me will get a 60 days tourist visa to enter Thailand. I intended to change the 60 days TR to non o visa under retirement. My question is: my wife can change to non o spouse visa at the same time I change to non o retirement visa ? Or she need to wait until I got my non o retirement visa ?

We intended to do it in pattaya immigration.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question is about the process of changing a 60-day tourist visa to a Non-O retirement visa while in Thailand, and whether the author's wife can simultaneously apply for a Non-O spouse visa. Comments indicate that the wife cannot change her visa type in Thailand at the same time and will need to either apply for the Non-O dependent visa at a Thai embassy abroad or wait until her husband secures his Non-O retirement visa.

If you're applying for a visa anyway, why bother with the Tourist visa? Just get the Non Imm O before you get here, much easier than in Country.

@Steve ******
it's not hard to get it here your wife should be able to piggyback your visa
Bob **********
But you'll need insurance in your home country

Not hard but easier in your home country especially if you're going to apply for a visa anyway.

we don’t have non O in my country (Hong Kong). Only non OA

you could ask HK if they would sell you a non-o, it's possible they may sell it even though it is not listed

Mandatory insurance from one of 14 companies.

@Brook *******
Nope, that's for the Non Imm OA visa

You can’t get a spouse dependent inside of Thailand. You could either apply for the non o for you at your home country and for your wife to get a non o dependent there, or once you have your in country one you’d need to leave to a nearby embassy to get her dependent O.

Does it mean that , she can only apply at my country the 90 day non o ( based on dependent of person with retirement visa) after I get my retirement visa?

@Peter ***
I think AFTER the you get the 90 day Non-O your wife could go to a nearby consulate and get the 90 day non-O using the marriage certificate and your 90 day Non-O as proof of why she wanted it.

I might me well off the mark... But looking at the immigration web site, 8 & 9 would seem to fit the bill. Perhaps Stuart can elaborate further?

You can probably get for a person on a non B but I’m certain they won’t do it for a retirement

yes right… I just don’t know whether we can apply to change the visa at the same time, or I have to get the retirement visa first , then my wife apply it after that.

sorry, I'm hearing from other people also confirming it's not possible to add a spouse to a retirement from a tourist visa in country. She would need to arrive on a 90 day non-o

if I apply the non o retirement in my country, then it will be a non OA, which I don’t want , because I have to buy insurance every year . That is the reason I intended to come to Thailand then change to Non o retirement.
Stuart *********
@Peter ***
what country are you applying from? Only one I know that forces an OA is Australia.
