TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK citizen seeking a retirement visa for Thailand can confirm that their spouse must obtain a Non-O visa based on their marriage before entering Thailand. This visa needs to be acquired outside of Thailand, and the couple will have to ensure their marriage certificate is properly certified and stamped by the Thai embassy in the UK before traveling. It is also suggested that both individuals apply for their own retirement visas, especially if they are over 50.

We are coming soon from UK but are both over 50, looks like it's easier to both get our own retirement visa, is that correct?

, that's what you need to decide by yourself because it all depends on your priorities and conditions, which no one else would know.

Or If you are still in your home country, check the website of the Thai embassy there to see if they issue Non-O dependent on Non-O retirement. In that case, you two get Non-O for each (you might need to apply first though) before you flying in, you can apply for 1-year extension together.

She will have to get the Non-O visa based on being married to a foreigner on a "retirement visa" OUTSIDE the country before she comes here because a visa for that reason is not issued inside the country ๐Ÿ˜•

So what that means is if you're coming here and then going to apply for the "retirement visa" inside the country she has to wait until you get the 90 day Non-O, then the year extension, then she goes to a thai consulate in another country and gets the 90 day Non-O visa and finally after that she can get a matching year extension to yours.>

Also you need to have the marriage certificate certified by the office in Milton Keynes and then stamped by the thai embassy there BEFORE you wing your way here because you can't get that done INSIDE thailand..
