I'm from Taiwan(over 50) and holder of Taiwan passport. I originally plan to apply for Non-O 90 days retirement visa in Taiwan and then my wife(also holder of Taiwan passport) apply for trailing spouse dependent visa on me before entering Thailand. However, Thailand Trade and Economic Office in Taiwan today replies me that they don't issue Non-O 90 days retirement visa but only the Non-OA retirement visa open for application. I know that I can use 60 days travel visa to enter Thailand and then change it to Non-O retirement visa. But I don't know how can my wife to get trailing spouse dependent visa on me ? Can give any suggestion? Thanks a lot.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, a Taiwanese passport holder over 50, seeks advice on applying for a Non-O retirement visa for 90 days, while also wanting to know how their wife can obtain a trailing spouse dependent visa. They learned that the Thai Economic Office in Taiwan does not issue the Non-O retirement visa, but only the Non-OA visa. The user considers entering Thailand on a 60-day tourist visa and changing it to a Non-O retirement visa afterward. Comments suggest that the Phuket immigration office might issue a trailing spouse visa but it has not been widely confirmed, and there's a question of if the wife can apply for her visa from Taiwan after the husband secures his Non-O visa in Thailand.

Can your wife apply for a non O trailing spouse visa in Taiwan, after you get your non O retirement visa here?

Thanks Simon and Tod. I'm asking the office now and waiting for reply.

@Simon ****
good question,

There is no thai embassy/consulate in Taiwan, it's just called the Thailand Trade and Economic Office.

I don't know if they'd issue her a 90 day Non-O after Lee got his 90 day Non-O and year extension here or not..

Can't hurt to ask them though. (y)

At this time the ONLY immigration office that "might" issue that 90 day Non-O visa to your wife as trailing spouse to you getting a Non-O and then a year extension would be the Phuket immigration office. They recently changed their policy and will now issue trailing spouse 90 day Non-O

No other office in the country will do it. That has never been a reason you could get a 90 day non-O (trailing spouse to someone on retirement) inside the country.

The reason I say "might" is so far no one has reported that they actually got this visa issued (as they changed the policy not that long ago).

So do I also need to get my retirement visa from Phuket immigration office and must keep residence in Phuket as a pre-requisite for my wife to apply trailing spouse Non-O visa on me ? My original plan is to live in Chiang Mai, never consider Phuket!

I got no idea at all how it works if you don't live IN phuket province. I'd say get a hold of them when you get here and ask them.

All I am telling you is that IF you want to get a 90 day Non-O trailing spouse on your retirement visa/extension that's the only office in the country that will do it.
