TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses finding a visa agency in Bangkok to assist in bringing a Thai spouse to the UK for a visit, with mixed opinions on the necessity of an agency. One commenter suggests that the application process can be managed without an agent by following the UK government website, while another corrects the application process details, stating that there is no interview for the UK Visitor visa and that biometrics are collected by VFS. The discussion emphasizes navigating current visa complexities.

There is no interview for a UK Visitor visa. Biometrics are taken by VFS in Bangkok or Chiang Mai, but the application is processed and the decision made by UKVI staff in India. Sometimes a phone call may made to the applicant to check information by UKVI staff in Thailand but they are not the people who make the final decision.

Correct. And impossible to contact the visa processing centre in India!

Not too difficult if you follow the application process on UK Gov website, no need for an agent. Just involves lots of form uploading and your wife having an interview with VFS Global in Bangkok. Did it for my wife about 6 months ago whole process took about 2 weeks.

It is not even an interview, it is only an appointment to get biometrics taken.

@Graham *****
that is not our experience. My wife was interviewed alone and questioned to authenticate the details of the application.

VFS only ensure details are correct and the correct documents have been submitted. VFS have no role in the decision making, they are a collection agency

exactly, that is why no point using an agent unless you can not get the application correct yourself

Unfortunately expats in Thailand simply believe paying an agent can get them anything they want if they pay the right amount. No-one needs an agent for a UK visa. It's an online form, step by step, so easy. If the applicant meets the criteria it's job done!

@Peter ******
ok, mine wasn't just in a room for biometrics

thank you but I heard UK were really cutting back as they fear the ladies won't return to Thailand. Maybe get a boat from calais ๐Ÿ˜…

if the application shows it is a genuine tourist visit and not a permanent move you will have no problems. Proof of sufficient funds and evidence your wife has a reason to return to Thailand helps.
