Hello everyone,

I am planning to travel to Thailand in november.

Before I will be travelling to India.

The process of issuing the visa in Colombia takes 4 weeks, because there is no embassy, so the visa office sends the documents to PEru, and the 3 months visa will start running the moment I get my passport.

They say that I have to issue the multiple entries visa (valid 6 months) so that my dates in Thailand match with the times on the visa.

I have been trying to connect with the thai embassy in Delhi to see if I can issue the visa there, so I can get the 3 months visa prior to travel to Thailand.

Does anyone know if it is possible as a colombian tourist in Delhi, to issue the visa there? Or do I have to issue it from COlombia?

Or if it is possible to issue the 3 months visa, and then get an extension there? (the visa will be half way when I arrive, and I am planning to stay the 60 days)

Thank you !

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Colombian citizen planning to travel to Thailand in November has inquired about the possibility of applying for a Thai visa at the embassy in India rather than from Colombia due to a lengthy processing time in Colombia. Responses clarified that while it's indeed possible to apply for a Thai visa in India, it's essential to follow the correct procedure through VFS Global, which handles applications for the Thai embassy. The visa types available are a single-entry tourist visa valid for 3 months or a multiple-entry tourist visa valid for 6 months. It was also emphasized that all necessary documentation should be prepared according to the VFS checklist to avoid application issues.

If you are planning on applying for a tourist visa to Thailand as mentioned you would need to provide your paperwork and photos to VFS. It is also important to check the checklist which has some variations depending on which zone you would be applying through. The Thai embassy is in Delhi and has 3 other consulate offices in Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkatta. So if you're going to be in Delhi then VFS in Delhi will send your application to the embassy office in Delhi. Same would apply if you're in other cities in Northern Indian. Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkatta cover west, south and east respectively. This information is available on the vfs website. A 3 month tourist visa is single entry and 6 month tourist visa is multiple entry. These are the only options when applying in India for tourist visa unless you have the visa on arrival option. As mentioned it is important to make sure you have all the documents as per the checklist as VFS staff can be very dogmatic and inflexible regarding receiving the application even though they don't process the visa.

Okay, I think there is some confusion about the validity of the visa

IF you apply for a single entry tourist visa, it's valid for 3 months from the date they issue it

That means you have 3 months to ENTER thailand and when you do (even if it's the last day the visa is valid for) you will get stamped in for 60 days.

Now as far as getting a tourist visa to thailand as a Columbian in India on a tourist visa there you apply for visas to thailand thru the online website run by VFS Global

hi again, do you know by any chance, if I get the one entry visa, and I want to stay for a week more, which is my case, can I get an extention in the migration office? My dates are like 65 days total to be there...

as long as you're entering thailand BEFORE the 3 months the single entry tourist visa runs out (3 months from the date they issue it) you will get stamped in for 60 days

Thank you. I went today to Vfs here in Colombia and the person told me that I should Apply to the 6 months because it will run from the day the issue it.

I want to be sure about this...

And I think I might be maybe 66 days... I don´t know if for that case I should ask for a re-entry or if I should go from the beginning with the 6 months one.

I think that's total b/s you DO NOT need a 6 month METV to enter thailand 🙁

and as I said a single entry tourist visa is valid for 3 months from the date they issue it <- that means you have 3 months from that date to ENTER thailand and when you do you will get stamped in for 60 days

EVEN If you enter the last day the visa is valid for you will still get 60 days when you stamp in

So as long as you're going to be IN thailand before the visa expires you can just get a single entry tourist visa
