Hi! I am moving to Thailand this summer for school with my brother. He is just coming with me so I’m wondering if he is allowed to buy a one way ticket from america to Bangkok? Is that allowed? My mom is working on getting him a Thai citizenship bc she is Thai but I just want to make sure we are allowed to get him a one way ticket there.
Additionally, I was informed by my school that I have to do my Thai visa, will I need to do that at the embassy or can I do it all online?
Thank you so much 🙈

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about whether their brother can purchase a one-way ticket to Thailand from the US while awaiting Thai citizenship through their Thai mother. Several commenters suggest that although it's generally possible, airlines may require proof of onward travel. Additionally, the user is looking to understand the process for obtaining a Thai visa, questioning whether it can be done online or if they need to visit the embassy.
he doesn’t but my mom needs to get that for us for some reason when we called the embassy they said only she can do it and she’s currently in Thailand right now so we have to wait for her to get back
I will be attending Chulalongkorn. They said I cannot obtain my dual citizenship otherwise I will not qualify for scholarship so I will use a student visa for me
I’m not sure if it allow to buy one way ticket or not. Im moving back to Thailand this summer with my son. We both have Thai passport and I bought one way ticket.
You’re allowed to buy one way ticket. The restrictions are regarding people travelling without any visa on visa exemption or tourist visa without onward ticket. With Thai passport you don’t need any visa to Thailand and are excused from these restrictions.
