Hi! I was approved for a 60 day tourist visa. Iโm moving there, but having my son take the entrance exam at the international school when we get there and get all of the paperwork necessary to move him to an education visa. My questions are:
1. If i have a 60 day visa- is it likely the airline will ask for my forward ticket?
2. Is it likely immigration will question us?
3. How easy is it to switch to the education visa while in the country?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user with a 60-day tourist visa is preparing to move to Thailand with their son, who will take an entrance exam at an international school. They seek advice on whether the airline will request a forward ticket, if immigration will ask questions upon arrival, and the ease of switching to an education visa. Responses suggest that the need for a forward ticket depends on the airline's policies, immigration is unlikely to question them at entry, and switching to an education visa is manageable if proper documentation is in place.
that is between you and your air carrier, SOME do require proof of onward travel (even when you hold a valid visa to thailand) some do not CHECK with them
Not hard at all IF you have the correct documentation AND your child has enough time left on their entry stamp to do the in country conversion at the immigration office for 2000baht
You need to be talking to the school to see their time line to get the paperwork and check with your immigration office where you live to see how much time you need on your child's entry stamp to apply for the visa (because of the under review period the visa goes thru which is between 2 and 3 weeks depending on office)
thank you! We havenโt arrived yet and do not arrive until late January. We have an appointment at the school 2 days after we arrive. I am making sure i am prepared. As soon as he is accepted, i plan on applying immediately for the ED visa. This was great information and i really appreciate it!
