TLDR : Answer Summary
As a US citizen, it is generally advised to have either a return ticket or an onward ticket when traveling to Thailand. While some travelers report that they have been able to enter Thailand on a one-way ticket, airlines, especially those flying from the USA, may require proof of a visa or an onward ticket before allowing boarding. It is recommended to check with the airline or consider purchasing a flexible return or a low-cost onward ticket to avoid any issues.

And before we have the requirements of each and every airline company who makes their way into Thailand, I close the commenting. There are some things, you have to check your self. Safe travels and enjoy your stay.

Delta and American Airlines in USA will not board you without a Visa and or return/ departing ticket out of Thailand.

Emirates do ask for a return ticket in the u.k anyway. A few years ago, they didnt see my visa and tried to deny me bording until i pointed my visa out.

assuming you are not planning to die in the kingdom, you could buy a flexible return ticket and/or cheap throwaway onward ticket. or you could just show up at the airport 30 minutes early so you have extra time to book the other flight online if the ground-staff wont check you in.

Some airlines will ask you for an onward ticket , some will not. Get one to be sure.

Normally NOT. Your airline...especially if departing from the USA... will want to see a Visa or ticket out of Thailand
Matt ********
You will need a return or onwards ticket
