On July 13 I'm coming to Thailand planning to enter using visa exempt from the US and am planning on getting a Non-O visa based on retirement after I arrive while making use of the 30 day extension. I'm over 50 with the required funds. My question is can I enter Thailand on a one way ticket with no return or follow on flight booked.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user plans to enter Thailand from the US on a visa-exempt basis and inquires about the possibility of arriving on a one-way ticket without a return or onward flight. The community notes that while it is technically required to have an onward ticket for visa-exempt travelers, experiences vary, and some have been allowed entry without one. It's suggested the user might benefit from a tourist visa instead, which allows for a longer stay, facilitating a smoother transition to applying for a Non-O visa once in Thailand.

and this is about as FAR from thai VISA advice as you can throw a stick ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

The O/P is comin' in visa exempt <- without a visa ๐Ÿ˜‰ and wants to know if they can get in without onward travel.

I think good answers have been offered out. we are done.

Why don't you get the 90 O now? Then it is not an issue.

there is mandatory health insurance to buy the Non-O from a thai consulate in an eVisa country. They are WAY better off just comin' in on a 30 day visa exempt entry and then applying for the in country 90 day Non-O

An insignificant expense when moving to a foreign country.

If you plan to come on a one way ticket I'd suggest you come on a tourist visa. It also gives you an extra 30 days to sort yourself out

I've been asked for onward ticket or proof of longstay visa for the last 15 yrs for every trip originating from the US to Thailand.

US airline's are noted for asking...and again at transit connection.

You could be denied boarding. Visa exempt (short term entry) technically requires a R/T ticket or onward ticket.

Yea! I did it last year

Good question, difficult to answer.

Airline companies are responsible in case off, so they want you to have onward travel.

Immigration might ask, but not every person is asked.
