Hi everyone! I am a dual Thai and American national and recently entered thailand on my expired thai passport. Unfortunately i cannot renew my passport until October (as I have been living abroad for so long, I need to make my first thai ID card in order to renew my passport which requires my mom to come over from the US and just takes time in general).
So I am stuck in Thailand for a few months longer than I initially planned and was hoping to do some traveling to some of the islands like Koh Samui etc while I’m here. I was wondering if I could use my current US passport to fly within the country? I didn’t enter thailand on my US passport so i dont know if i can use it to travel within Thailand.
Thanks so much for everyone’s help!
TLDR : Answer Summary
A dual Thai-American national entered Thailand using an expired Thai passport and inquired if they could use their US passport for domestic flights within Thailand. Community members confirmed that they should have no issues flying domestically with their US passport as it is accepted as a form of identification. The conversation also touched on the complexities of renewing a Thai passport and obtaining a Thai ID card, which requires the mother's presence due to specific Thai policies.
