Hello I lived in Phuket for many year but moved back overseas just before COVID.

I have sole custody of my “Luuk Krung” Daughter granted through a divorce at the amphur in Phuket .

My Daughter left Thailand on her Thai passport ( that is now expired) and entered the U.S.on her US passport .

We are now planning a trip back to Thailand for a visit and I want her travel completely as a US citizen , I plan on not showing her expired Thai passport .

My question is will they see in the system that she was cleared out on her Thai passport and if so is that a problem if I do as planned ?

I just joined this group with the hope someone with knowledge in this area can give me the facts

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat seeks clarification on whether her daughter can travel to Thailand using only her valid US passport, given that she previously left Thailand on an expired Thai passport. Community responses indicate that as long as her daughter enters and exits Thailand on the same passport, there should not be any issues. Several users share personal experiences of traveling on different passports and suggest renewing the Thai passport for future ease.

obtain her Thai passport from the appropriate Thai consulate or the embassy, whichever serves where u live. when here, obtain her national ID and drivers license if she's old enough for the latter. The Thai passport alo offers visa free travel to other Asian countries.

My Thai wife is now a US citizen but she always enters Thailand with her Thai passport. No lines and we breeze thru with me following. Bring the old Thai passport and get it renewed in Thailand. Someday that will come in handy. Believe me.

My daughter has a US passport and Thai passport. In 2021 her Thai passport expired and we entered Thailand on her US passport. We renewed her Thai passport in Thailand and then returned to the US using the US passport to exit Thailand. On our next trip we returned to enter and leave Thailand using her Thai passport in Thailand (US in the US)

No issues at all

Its no issue, but for your daughters sake i would renew her passport and ID.

Read lots of young adults in Thai Citizenship group having to go through lots of paperwork to renew everything after it has lapsed for sometime

There will be no issues with this, my son’s Thai passport has expired a couple of times whilst in the uk and he has travelled back on his UK one.

My wife is Thai and she travels on her American passport. We visited Thailand 🇹🇭 from the USA 🇺🇸 many times over the last 15 years and never had a problem.

not needed, she could exit on a US and enter on a thai passport. This has been covered several times.

Surely those same Biometrics will appear on her US passport too? Her US passport is valid so I see no problem for her At BKK Immigration. I used UK and Canadian passports all the time with no problem and my youngest Daughter uses her Thai and Canadian Passports too.

Any reason you don't renew her Thai passport before you leave (or at least have the application in their system)?

Carry her birth certificate with you. You will probably have to renew her Thai passport before you leave Thailand again. Thai passports are easy and fast to get here. I have daughter with Thai and U.S. passports. We will go to U S. In August. Depart on Thai, enter and leave U. S. on U S

Passport, re-enter. Thailand on Thai passport. A my daughter says, "easy peasy papa"

careful, not sure about Thailand, but some countries require you to show the local passport if you have multiple nationalities regardless of where they stamp the entry. I come from a Suth american country, every time I go home I can enter with my European passport but still required to show my latin American passport. Maybe Thailand can be the same.
