How can I obtain a Thai citizenship or ID without my mother's assistance?

hi,

i’m not sure if this is allowed but i’m in need of advice regarding a Thai Citizenship/ Identification card. I am half Thai but my parents never got me a Thai ID or passport. My mother refuses to help me get one and my father said it’s almost impossible to do it without her (my mother is Thai). What documents would I need in order to file for one without needing to go back to the UK? I’ve gotten a Thai translation for my birth certificate and apparently I need my name in a Tabian Baan (I can do that on my own).

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the challenges faced by a half-Thai individual seeking Thai citizenship and identification, specifically the difficulties in obtaining these without the cooperation of their Thai mother. Users recommend gathering necessary documentation, such as copies of parents' birth certificates, and suggest reaching out to legal services for assistance in navigating the process.

How do you live now, on what visa ?

I reckon a way around it is if your mother owns property in Thailand she can somehow put your name on the house and then issue a copy of the tabian baan with your name on it.

Just curious, what's your reason for wanting to take up Thai citizenship as you are a British citizen presently..

Should be able to easily get copies of your parents birth /marriage certificate/ house book to prove you were born in Thailand, to a Thai parent and entitled to Thai Nationality.

Then you can enjoy dual UK and Thai Nationality.

I think your option is: find the birth certificate of your mother (ask for a copy of the original Thai) use that and your birth certificate (if was outside Thailand must be apostille)d with that you can apply for the passport and nationality as Thai descendant without need anything of your mother...

That is the normal way I don't know if Thailand is different...
