TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has received a new UK passport and transferred relevant visa stamps to it but noted that their multiple re-entry stamp was not moved. They inquire whether they can still use the re-entry stamp from their old passport when traveling back to Thailand. Community members discuss the specifics of moving stamps and re-entry permits, emphasizing that only extensions of stay typically transfer to a new passport. The consensus is that using the old passport with the re-entry stamp is acceptable.

Thanx for that update, glad you went and tried it. I knew using both passports once an extension was moved just didn't sound right to me.

Congrats, now you just need one passport to travel in and out (y)

FYI. I went and done it myself. Copies of old passport and stamps. Copies of new passport and stamps. Fill in a transfer form. Queue up. Then told come back later. All up 2 hours. So I did get the reentry stamped moved without any issues even after the extension Stamps were moved

let's hash out exactly what you have.

You got a new passport, went to your immigration office and had them move the stamps.

What stamps did they move?

I ask that because they don't move VISAS to new passports, only extensions of stay.

Were you on an extension and had bought a re-entry permit as well OR were you on some multi-entry VISA from a thai consulate in another country?

they moved my extension of stay retirement. I bought the multiple re-entry same time same place at Jomtien immigration

they should have moved your re-entry permit as well, and sadly whether you want to or not you HAVE to go back to the immigration office with both passports to get the re-entry moved to the new passport.

What category is the multiple re-entry for?

Where did you get it?

there is no 'category' for a re-entry permit, no matter the type of visa/extension it's attached to a re-entry permit is a re-entry permit

it's where it was gotten that controls if an office will move it or not.

Sorry I thought visa (stamp)…not permit.

you bring up a good point though,

IF they had a multi-entry VISA in the old passport when they moved the stamps all that would get moved is the extension..

where did you GET the re-entry permit? Usually the only reason an immigration office won't move a re-entry stamp when you get your extension stamp moved to a new passport is because you got it at the airport.
