Hi everyone!

I’m currently in Vietnam and will applie for the DTV Visa. I’ll be flying to Germany soon for about three months, and the Muay Thai school I’m in contact with recommended applying for the visa here in Vietnam.

If my application gets approved while I’m still here, how much time do I have to actually enter Thailand before the visa becomes invalid? Is there any limit?

Would really appreciate any insights — thanks a lot in advance! 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV Visa, once approved, is valid for 5 years from the approval date. Applicants can enter Thailand at any point within that 5-year validity period. However, it's recommended to remain in Vietnam during the visa application process to avoid rejection risks.

The best is to apply in your passport country, where. also most of the other documents originate from, since they know how documents are formated in that country, leading to less rejections because of misunderstandings.

Why not apply in Germany? DTV issued by Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia attract much more attention from immigration.

I think you should be back in Thailand on time to go to your Muay Thai you signed up for.

Stay where you are until the visa process completes. They can ask for confirmation you are still there or even ask you in for interview. Once you have the visa its good for 5 years

If you leave before it’s approved you risk it being rejected
