Should I use an agent or find a gym to sponsor my Remote Worker Visa for Thailand?

Hello,

I’m currently based in Hanoi and I’m planning to apply for the Remote Worker Visa myself. However, I’ve heard of many cases where applications for this visa have been rejected, which makes me a bit hesitant. I’ve been in Hanoi for one year and I want to leave soon.

Would you recommend working with an agent to handle the process? Or would it be better to try and find a Thai gym to sponsor me instead? Is my one year status could affect my application? Anyone with the same experience

I’d really appreciate any advice or recommendations you might have. I’m eager to move forward soon, but I find the official website a bit confusing.

Thank you in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is considering applying for a Remote Worker Visa to move to Thailand from Hanoi, but is hesitant due to reports of application rejections. They are weighing the option of using a visa agent versus finding a Thai gym for sponsorship. Various responses highlight that while applications can be tricky, having the necessary documentation is key. Many users suggest the Thai Soft Power route (like Muay Thai or cooking classes) may have higher approval rates. Additionally, having sufficient funds and ensuring documentation is in order could mitigate concerns about the application process.

Thanks for sharing, Samgan! Yes, we’ve heard similar feedback .. the Hanoi consulate has been a bit stricter recently, with more document checks and slower processing times. Your one-year stay shouldn’t be a problem as long as your documents (entry stamp, bank proof, and employment evidence) are ok.

As for applying under the Workation category vs Thai Soft Power (like Muay Thai or Cooking School), both are valid, and your choice should depend on which documentation is easier for you to provide. Most applicants take the Thai Soft Power route if they don’t have clear employment contracts or freelance invoices. Thai Soft Power route has generally had an easier time getting approval as well compared to Workation category.

You don’t necessarily need an agent, but it helps if you're unsure about how to present your case. We’ve worked with several visa agencies and helped over 120 successful applicants through our cooking school so we are quite familiar with the process. Happy to share more if you'd like guidance or a second opinion.

Wishing you the best whichever path you take!

Hanoi was great for me, just 2 weeks ago, got my visa (soft route) very quickly, in less than 4 days. If, for any reason, you're not sure about going the workation way, simply go for some Muay Thai or Thai Cooking. It can be a good experience and you'll have no problem getting your DTV. Just make SURE you have those required 500K THB (or equivalent) on your account for AT LEAST 3 MONTHS. Good luck and see you soon in Thailand!

I feel we only hear about people getting rejected. I did it beginning of the month. No issues. I don't think you should worry too much

Hanoi is going through some kind of shake up. Maybe a change in the leadership at the embassy or new person in charge because since start of this month Hanoi is not the same as it was and not an easy place to apply.

Anonymous participant 736 it is linked to the abuse with the financials that happened there before. They are the best post to apply if you have what they are looking for. Stay simple and to the point and you will be fine at Hanoi. I did both application for me ( main applicant) and for my wife (depedent applicant). Both were approved in 3 business days 🙏

There are many cases that been approved too (and they might not post in here). If you have sufficient fund and are allowed to work remotely I don't think there's nothing to be worried.

If you're qualified, why would you be worried? Try the worktation route, when you've got all your ducks aligned, shouldn't take more than couple of weeks.
