Can I transfer my Non-O retirement visa and multiple entry stamp to a new passport while in Thailand?

I am getting a Non O one year retirement visa, but my passport is nearly full. Once I get the visa, I will be down to one last empty page. So I will need to get a new passport, before leaving Thailand, otherwise I won’t be able to come back in, without obtaining a new passport, outside of Thailand, first.

I know that with a bit of effort, you can get the visa transferred to a new passport. But can I get the multiple entry stamp transferred as well, without too much extra hassle? Or would it be better to just get the visa, transfer it to a new passport, then obtain a new multiplie entry stamp.

Thanks, as always, to this great forum and it’s contributors 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about getting a Non-O one-year retirement visa, as their current passport is nearly full. They want to know if it's possible to transfer the visa and multiple entry stamp to a new passport without too much hassle. The conversation reveals that while it's not possible to transfer the Non-O visa itself, the extension stamp and re-entry permit can be transferred at the immigration office upon re-entering Thailand with both passports.

Oh, ok… so they can’t transfer my Non O one year retirement visa, from my old passport to my new passport, at the immigration office??… Only upon re-entering Thailand with the immigration officer at entry?

, entry stamp, permitted until stamp for 90 days from initial visa, and 1-year extension stamp can be transferred. When you get 1-year extension based on retirement after Non-O visa and 90 days stay stamp, you apply for transfer your 1-year extension and re-entry permit.

, I can bet you have 1-year extension, not non-o visa anymore (at least you will be when you apply for a new 1-year extension. Check your stamp.

Extension CAN and must be transferred.

Visa itself cannot be transferred, but entry stamp and following extensions should be transferred.

No worry…

When you leave Thailand, get a new passport and upon your return bring both and the Immigration officer can transfer your visa info into your new password.

Just a thought, would it save hassle if you were to get your passport renewed beforehand?

the problem is that I need 6-8 weeks here for processing a new passport (so with holidays it might be closer to the 😎. And unfortunately I’m on a 30 day visa exempt, with an extension. So even though I got the extension early, and now have about 7 weeks, I didn’t get it early enough for allowing the potential for 8 weeks, processing of the new passport. And if I leave and get a longer visa, I’m not sure I will have sufficient free pages to get back in. Sometimes they are sticklers on that 2 empty page rule.

Notwithstanding all those facts, yes, getting the new passport first, would definitely be my choice.

, not really. Either way, you need to apply for transfer stamps at some point. What you need to do is the same, just different order depending on when you get your new passport.

I picked it up that he was planning to apply, so if he got a new passport before applying then the visa would be in the new passport. Admittedly, I'm not sure of his use of terminology. Maybe he already has a 90 day visa and is meaning a year extension 🤷‍♂️

, you need to transfer stamps first anyway then you can apply for a new extension. you cannot just bring both and get a new extension on the new passport without applying for transferring stamps.

Well, you may be able to save one trip to the immigration office, but cannot skip the procedures.

You cannot transfer a visa but you can transfer a extension stamp and your re entry is a stamp
Ellie *******
No extra hassle to transfer a valid re-entry permit stamp to the new passport along with the extension stamp unless you apply for your re-entry permit at the airport separately from your 1-year extension.

I think answers my question… that I can transfer a multiple entry permit stamp, into a new passport.

Thank you 🙏

Again, my plan is to transfer the new 1 year Non O retirement visa, which I will get in my current passport that is almost full. And if I can also transfer the multiple entry stamp I was planning on getting with it, then I will also obtain that stamp, in my old passport.

Then I would have plenty of time here in Thailand (1 year) to get a new passport, and then transfer both the visa and the multi entry stamp over to the new passport.
