Can I Transfer My Non-B Visa to My New Passport as a Philippine Passport Holder?

February 13, 2020
Hello 👋 Kindly advice for my case:

Philippine passport holder and I have Non-B visa (issued at Savannakhet) that will expire this March. My new passport will be issued this month and will do visa extension in Chaengwattana. Our embassy usually punches a hole when our new passport is claimed and a letter goes with it to present when going to the immigration. Will the Non B visa (details) be transferred to my new passport regardless of where it was issued and I will do the visa extension in Chaengwattana?

Thank you in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Non-B visa cannot be directly transferred to a new passport. You must bring both your old and new passports along with the embassy's letter to the immigration office to have the visa details noted in the new passport. After that, you can apply for your visa extension.

At Chaengwattana you need the following copies in addition to the "transfer stamps to a new passport" form which you can get out there

Take BOTH passports (and the letter from your embassy) to the immigration office with the documentation from your employer that uses the NEW passport number so you can get the Non-B visa notation added to your passport (it will say you got a Non-B visa in passport xxx on xxx date and entered the country on it on xxx) and then they will put the new extension inside the new passport.

Kind of bad timing that you didn't get a new passport BEFORE you got the Non-B visa :/ causing you to do all this extra work just before you get your extension.

right...truly a bad timing. So I think I will just use the old passport and not claim my new passport yet until I get an extension visa it will both be hassles anyway and then transfer the extension visa to the new passport if it makes more sense but will I pay again for doing that? Since they will put valid until June only.Thank you.

As a teacher you mist have (had) single entry Non-B. Then it’s already used and no use anymore (means first about your Non-B visa sticker). You are currently entry from that Non-B. That’s admitted until stamp has to be transferred to your new passport.

Bring your both passport and letter from your embassy about new passport to immigration office and get it transferred. AFTER that apply your extension.

‘admitted until’ date of your new extension will be earlier one of same date to validation of your passport or 1 year or contract period.

If you apply extension first you will get only until June.

But in (rare) case you have multiple entry Non-B, it’d be different story.

thank you. I was thinking about the old passport number used in the signed documents if it needs to be changed or just let it be? Use the letter then proceed with new passport to do the extension and get until June and then extend again? 😳🤯. I was told if the embassy will punch a hole in the old passport it will affect something (this I still need to confirm). There is too much to absorb right now. I will know tomorrow from the embassy.

A visa (as in the sticker in your passport) can’t be transferred. If you need to travel just use both passports. When you go to get the extension of stay this will be stamped into your new passport. Once done you don’t need to use your old passport for travel.

Appreciate it. Thanks again. 🙏

A visa, as in the sticker can’t be transferred. A stamp (extension) can be. Ask your local immigration office what you need to get the stamp in your new passport

thank you for responding... that is what I thought because it is a sticker 😁... am confused how it is done for a Non B to transfer details from old passport...because

back then I did have a one year visa and transferring it was easy peasy but now I have a Non B in the old passport and will use the new passport to extend visa.
