I have a work permit and non-b visa (extension) on my UK passport.

I am currently outside of Thailand, but will return.

However I lost my UK passport, I also have an Irish passport (never used), are these connected in any way?

Or will I need to return on my Irish passport, somehow cancel my work permit and visa without my UK passport, and then re-apply on my Irish passport?

Thank you in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing a situation where they have lost their UK passport while holding a non-B visa and a work permit for Thailand. They are currently outside of Thailand and wonder how to proceed with their Irish passport, including the potential need to cancel their current work permit and visa. Comments suggest obtaining a police report for the lost passport, contacting a visa service for assistance, and considering the connection of various permits and their link to employment.

Couple of things usually a work permit and visa are linked to an employer. If you no longer work there it will be cancelled you didn't elaborate so hard to answer this one. Also if you didn't get a multi entry your visa will be cancelled again you didn't explain. You need a new British passport if you are in Britain should be easy.

I’d call a visa service and ask them for assistance. Might be one of those special cases I’d want assistance with.

You will need a police report for your lost passport to enable you to get your stamps transferred to the new passport and, probably, to enter using the new passport?

@Graham *****
i wasn't planning on getting a new UK passport, as I have an Irish one, so thought I could try enter on that, but not sure if I'd be seen/considered a different person.

if I enter on my Irish passport, i think they will class me as a tourist, but I'm unsure🤔

Are your UK and Irish passports linked? I don't know if you can access the biometrics to find out?
