I have an education visa + extension. Is it possible to transfer an education to a different school/university? Meaning I don't have to leave Thailand and get a whole new visa.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Transferring an education visa to a different school in Thailand is complex. While some individuals have reported successfully switching schools, it often involves applying for a new extension of stay rather than a simple transfer. Documentation from the new school must be thoroughly prepared, and all requirements for a new visa application must be met. Careful coordination with immigration authorities is essential to avoid complications.

I did this last year for my daughter (note: this was a different time!) the two schools worked together and got the dates right because I had to move from north to the south of the country too. What nobody told me is that this is not a swap but a whole new application for extension so you need to meet all requirements like proof of residence, money and so on; if you had a multiple entry permit it will be cancelled.
Just be aware of this! and as stated above make sure the new school has all the paperwork done!

I cancelled my extension of stay on Tuesday after all parties (uni and imm) confirmed that this was possible. Went to get the new extension yesterday with all the required docs from the new uni.. Just to be told by imm that they can't do it. So now I have already cancelled extension A and unable to get extension B in country and will be on amnesty as of next week with classes starting Wednesday. No idea what to do.

7% sure that they will do it before you cancel your current extension to prevent my current mess. 100% confirmation from all parties was not enough. (My 2 universities are in two different provinces though)

Sorry, but you need to cancel your Extension of Stay as soon there is a change of reason for continuation upon which this permit was granted.
Simple said it has to be cancelled you stop following classes at the school who did help you to get this stamp.

No, you got your Extension of Stay based on the course you follow with documents from the School and Ministry of Education,
