Can I convert a 'ผ.60 - ม.17' entry to an education visa directly in Thailand?

The user is seeking clarification on whether they can directly convert their current visa (a kind of free entry stamp) to an Education visa (ED visa) in Thailand for their 14-year-old child with a school letter, or if they need to switch to a Non-O visa first and wait for 30 days before applying for the ED visa. A comment provides information that it is possible to change from a free entry stamp to an ED visa directly, given certain conditions, including documentation from the school and a minimum time remaining on the current stamp.
