Thinking of changing to a DTV visa in Sydney Australia. Soft power thai cooking 12 months course and also study Thai language at university in Bangkok. Currently on retirement visa. Do you need to wait for your current visa to expire before applying for DTV ?. Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user considering switching from a retirement visa to a DTV visa while planning to study Thai cooking and the Thai language is seeking guidance on whether they need to wait for their current visa to expire before applying for the new one. Comments suggest that a DTV visa is not suitable for language studies, and that staying on the retirement visa may be more beneficial.
Stay on your retirement visa, it is a much better visa, and if you want to have a Thai bankaccount, you can’t have that on DTV, and the Thai Banks are closing bankaccounts that are obtained on other visatypes, but now has changed to DTV.
