I’m currently in Pattaya and I was going to do the retirement visa again since I have a Thai bank account and Thai phone. I’m currently on a tourist visa but I am really thinking about the DTV! I’m 60
Answer summary
The user in Pattaya is considering switching from a tourist visa to a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa), especially since they have a Thai bank account and are over 60 years old. Several comments discuss the implications of switching to a DTV, including potential issues with bank account status, as some believe that holding a DTV may lead to account closure, while others share personal experiences refuting this. There is also debate over the qualifications and requirements necessary for obtaining a DTV versus a retirement visa.

DTV is a king sized pain in the arse, go for the 90 day Non O then extend each year
Howard Brooks why would you apply for the DTV then? You're potentially creating an issue that you don't have with the retirement visa. 1, you have to be outside Thailand to apply. 2, you have to prove money outside Thailand. 3, you have get all the documents together that you don't have. seems a weird way to go about things.
Stephen Howell hey please stop bullshit. He is now on a tourist, so his bank has closed his bank account??? What is different from DTV and tourist??? Once he has opened his bank account with a retirement visa, his account goes on until the bank will ask. The point when he opened his bank account is matter for the bank.
