A quick 90 day reporting question...

(I live in Bangkok so will be using MTT)...

Today 7 May I got my 1yr extension of stay (non o married to thai wife) at CW Bangkok.

I know the 1st 90 day report normally has to be in person after a new extension but can this 1st one also be done by post or do I need to physically be there? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The first 90-day report following a new extension of stay must typically be completed in person, but it can also be mailed, as long as it is postmarked at least 14 days prior to the due date stated on the reporting receipt. If you receive a new 90-day reporting receipt after getting your extension, it indicates that the 90-day reporting countdown has been reset. However, if this is not your first yearly extension and you've been reporting prior to the extension, the 90-day report date remains unchanged.

There always is confusion about whether getting a new extension resets the 90 day reporting count down clock or not. Here's how you can tell with 100% accuracy if it does or doesn't at your office when you get a new extension

IF they hand you a new 90 day reporting receipt (the one with the bar code and a new 90 day report date on it) they DID reset the 90 day reporting count down clock :P

IF they DON'T hand you a new 90 day reporting receipt they DID NOT reset the 90 day reporting count down clock and you report like normal when you're current receipt tells you

great. Thanks for all the info. They didn't hand me one (now I know why) so I'll continue on my current 90 day clock and do it next month then. Thank you ๐Ÿ™

brings up a good point (y) IF this isn't your very FIRST yearly extension and you were doing 90 day reporting before this extension the 90 day report date doesn't change when you get a new year extension.

It's only the very FIRST extension you get that starts the 90 day clock (and where they usually put that paper in your passport)

We you on an extension that was already doing 90 day reporting BEFORE this year extension based on marriage

That is super helpful. Tyvm. My *first renewal based on the same visa as the OPโ€™s is due in September.

Clarification. Upon completing my extension, the IO reminded me I would still need to do my 90-day reporting, which had an appointment/due date of about 3 weeks after my extension - which was my first extension based on an OA Visa based on being over 50. I now recall that I did that 90-day reporting in person, only because I found it easy to do since I live close to immigration. After that, I completed the next one online without any problems. The timeline or due dates of my 90-day reporting never changed due to getting my extension of stay renewed.

you were already DOING 90 day reports because of the long term visa you were on (O-A) before this yearly extension you just received, that means getting the extension didn't reset your 90 day count down clock. You keep doing your 90 day report like normal

it's my 2nd yearly extension. Taking any extension out of the equation, my next 90 day report was/is due next month on 18 June. Thanks, I always thought any new extension reset the 90 day clock but I'll continue to file my 90 day as I was following for the last year then

@Jason *********
That's it, you already WERE doing 90 day reporting from a previous extension and as you pointed out getting a new one doesn't reset the count down clock.

I have successfully completed an online report after an extension of stay, and the timeline I used was based on my prior appointment or due date for 90 day reporting, with no change due to the date of my extension to stay. I have subsequently completed one 90 day report via EMS post, which I mailed 10 days before that due date, which worked fine.

thanks for this, Roy. I was not aware at all that I could continue using the previous/current 90 day timeline. My next 90 day is due next month so I'll file it in accordance with that then. Thanks for taking the time to add this comment. Very useful ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Do a report before your previous visa expiry date. We were fined the other day because we "didnt" renew our report right after the visa got extended.

Apparently they tie-in the 90 day notif expiry on the day of your visa expiry.

Can I see that stamp please? It doesn't sound right to me.

@Elijah *********
No they do not. Perhaps you just got the date wrong?
Elijah **********
Apparently the IO yesterday did and slapped me 2 grand. haha

90day and your visa stamp or extension of stay are 2 totally separate things - dont confuse them together :)
Tod *********
you can mail it in as long as your packet is post marked 14 days or more before the due date (which should be on that tiny card they stapled into your passport like this

Thanks. I knew something was missing. I didn't get that part stapled in my passport today but obviously know when today +90 is. Is the lack of this stapled bit going to be a problem? (I've previously gotten a police report for a lost 90 day report so can go do that again anyway)

Jason Matthews. And use EMS so it can be tracked

To do a 90 day report by mail in Bangkok you need to postmark the envelope 14 days before the due date, and include a stamped self addressed envelope to get the receipt mailed back

Include the following in the packet:

Filled out TM47

previous 90 day report receipt

copies of

data page of your passport

visa/extension

most recent entry stamp

TM 6 departure card

TM30 receipt

Mail it here;

Immigration Office Division 1

Chalermprakiat Government Complex

120 Moo 3 Chaengwattana Road Soi 7

Thungsonghong, Laksi Bangkok
