Quick question (hopefully).

Just received my first one-year extension based on marriage (on a ME non-O). Dated effective 19 Jun 2020.

My under consideration stamp was issued on 20 May 2020.

I got stuck in Thailand so got an extension on 23 Mar 2020 valid until 25 May 2020.

What date is the first 90-day reporting requirement based on?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The first 90-day reporting requirement for your one-year extension based on marriage should be checked in your passport. Look for a small paper stapled inside that indicates the due date for your 90-day report, which is often provided at the time of your extension application. If you're unsure, you can also inquire directly with immigration officers when obtaining your extension.

and we are done. Good Luck to one and all,

REMEMBER you CAN talk to the immigration officers when you're getting your extension at their office :O You don't need to route all the conversations thru your thai wife, you are allowed to ask when your 90 day report is due, etc, because it's your extension and your wife is only there because she's the REASON for the extension, you're the person getting it. ;)

Is the confusion that its a multiple entry non O marriage visa rather than an extension by marriage?

I would assume it is 90 days from issue date of the actual extension which is what the stamps in my passport suggest.

It might be worth asking immigration directly if it's not too much of a hassle to go in to do so?

No, just mentioning that it’s an extension based on marriage of a ME non-o as a way of also communicating the last extension I received prior to the extension based on marriage.

I got the 60-day extension rather than a full 90-day stamp just before the amnesty kicked in.

Just not sure if the 90 days begins based on last extension, extension while under consideration, or date of marriage extension.

@Bill *****
wait.. do you have a one year extension of stay based on marriage, or a 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai family?

I had/have a 1-year ME Non-O based on visiting Thai family. I received a 1-year extension based on marriage yesterday.

right, so they didn't put that paper in your passport?

IN THEORY the 90 day reporting only starts from a long term extension (meaning the 60 day visit family extension doesn't count) and you start counting the days from when you applied for your year extension (the date you got the 30 day under consideration stamp which is the first month of your new yearly extension)

Thanks. That was what I was thinking. Wasn’t sure though.

Mark, I may stop by and as as well. Just to make sure.

Other option is go in and try to do the report on the earlier of the dates, worst thing that can happen is a wry smile and told to come back in a few weeks. Cheers

I’ll take it as my good deed for that day. I get to make an immigration officer feel good having me come back. LOL.

That leads me to believe that 89 days from May 20th (the date you got the under consideration stamp inked into your passport) would be the date you do your 90 day report or Aug 17th.

BUT

With that being said, if it's not too much to call them or swing by and ask, I'd sure do that just to be safe

LOOK in your passport and see if they stapled a tiny paper into it (many times people don't even see it). Usually when you get your first yearly extension the put that paper in telling you when your first 90 day report is due. Looks like this

Nope, no such paper. Only my departure card.

Also they (Roi Et immigration) staple it on the last page of the passport, so it's easy to miss.
