TLDR : Answer Summary
The user holds a Non-Imm OA visa (multiple entry) issued in November 2020 and was in Thailand until June 2021. They inquire about returning in October 2021 using this visa and any necessary steps regarding their visa before departure. Responses suggest they can return, but must present proof of compliant insurance to receive a full year stamp on entry. There are recommendations to acquire insurance from listed companies to ensure compliance upon re-entry.

With the "lively discussion" on how the rule will be interpreted when you apply for the COE and when you stamp into the country, I will agree with

, there is no down side to applying for one of the insurance policies of the 18 listed companies to make sure you are covered to enter on your still valid visa sticker.

LMG with the 200K baht deductible policy is the cheapest (or was anyway)

Good luck with it. you clearly are ABLE to enter on the visa as it is still valid, BUT as far as if you can come in on your existing insurance (if it's not from one of the approved companies) OR if you will need to be insured by one of the aproved companies remains to be seen.

that's a true Salomonean comment

you should get one of the 14 Thai insurances ("compliant for O/A Longstay) from the "tgia-list" and start this insurance for one full year on the date of your planned re-entry . . .

@Nongnuch *******
it appears they added more companies to the list, now there are 18 listed on that link 🙂

only first year. . . .it is on the tgia website, though. They have a reason to post it. . since you cannot "renew" a visa but only extend the stay permit, I assume you can use the foreign insurance in the first year only , but not after re-entries that extend across the 13th month
Nongnuch ********
rather nonsensical

@Nongnuch *******
the first year the VISA is valid 🙂 and ANY entry on it while it's valid

@Dominique ******
the foreign insurance will only be accepted for the first year of the Non-O/A visa. From the 13th month on since first entry, you need a Thai tgia-listed insurance. Not really a big problem . . . can be had for 7700.- THB for one full year with the LMG, for example

Now he is in Germany. I don't think he can sign a contract with a Thai company from Germany.
Nongnuch ********
@Dominique ******
he can take up a Thai insurance online, and have the document emailed to him and print them out

@Nongnuch *******
that is not correct, he can indeed use his foreign insurance (if that's what he had) for ANY entry on the VISA while it is valid. It's only the yearly extensions INSIDE thailand which must have the insurance from one of the 15 thai carriers

I have read reports that Immigration at the border will stamp in somebody who re-enters Thailand with a still valid Non-O/A visa , who has a five-year foreign insurance, only for the rest of the first year admitted stay. They are given the chance to buy a Thai insurance inside Thailand, visit Immigration and get the stamp adjusted

Very strange that Berlin Thai Embassy did not write on the visa your insurance expiration date.

On arrival in Thailand you may be stamped in for ONE FULL YEAR IF you have PROOF of an O-A compliant INSURANCE policy to show the Thai Immigration Officer upon arrival.

If you do not have proof you will only be stamped in until November 4, 2021.

@James *******
there is a small handwritten note in black ink beneath the "admitted until" stamp from November 28, 2020. This could be a note about the expiry of the foreign health insurance

@Nongnuch *******
thank you... My phone did not pick it up... But as
@Tod ********
said it is there.

@Nongnuch *******
well spotted that is indeed notation that he was admitted until his insurance ran out AND that's the reason that even though he entered on Nov 28th he was only stamped in until Nov 4th

I will stay until April. Should I still make insurance for a whole year? ( plan to return in October 2022 again).

@Stefan ***********
extend your current policy or get a new policy to either April 2022 or for one year.

If you don't have other heath insurance I urge you to obtain a good policy which meets the requirements of the OA visa... At least to April 2022.

Then when you return to your home country ...apply for a NEW O-A VISA EXEMPT... Unless you plan on depositing 800,000 Thai baht in a Thai bank account in your name only.

That new OA visa then can give you up to two years of stay in Thailand with planning.

IF you have insurance, and if you enter by November 4, 2021, you will be stamped in for one calendar year.
