American here on Non-OA retirement, multi-entry visa, first year. Arrived in Thailand beginning of December 2020. I need to return to USA at the end of June and plan to return in September. Is there anything that I need to do concerning my visa before leaving Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you are leaving Thailand on a Non-OA retirement visa, you do not need to take any immediate action regarding your visa before departure. Upon your return in September, you can expect to be stamped in for another year since you have a multi-entry visa, provided it is valid until December 2021. However, ensure that you have valid health insurance for the full year to maintain this status. Additionally, check for any quarantine requirements or need for a Certificate of Entry upon your return, as these protocols may still apply.

You will need a full year health insurance to be stamped in for another 1 year, otherwise you will only be stamped in until the expiry of your insurance.

In this group the post you make has to be approved by admins/moderators to be shown. You need to check the box indicating pending (I don't remember the exact name) if you sure made a post.

I changed the queue and there’s nothing pending. We didn’t reject the post either

David Broadfoot he will only be stamped in to the ending date of his OA required insurance.

If my current policy is good to December, will I be able to just add/pay for 9 months extending from December? If I get one year starting in September, seems like I will be paying for double coverage for three months.

@Ted *******
where did you get your current insurance?

Was it a Thai insurer on the approved list? If so contact them and have them extend the insurance for one added year if possible.

Otherwise you will be stamped into Thailand upon arrival for the time remaining on your current insurance policy and will need to buy insurance from one of the approved Thai insurers for one year and take proof of it to Thai immigration to get a new permission to stay date in your passport.

this is a question only your insurer can answer, seems to me you'd want to extend your policy till a date that is 1 year from the time you plan to reenter Thailand.

you only get stamped in for the length of the insurance coverage at the airport on arrival. If you can extend your insurance do so.

good advice...you are correct.😊

You need to have insurance covering for the planned stay period. If you mean December 2022, you will be fine. But if you mean December 2021, You will be stamped until same date when your insurance ends.
Benjamin ******
There’s nothing you need to do with your visa. When you return, you will be stamped in for an entire year (since it is a multiple entry visa). I am assuming your visa is valid until December, 2021

You will need to quarantine and get a Certificate of Entry however on your return, if it’s still required.

David Broadfoot My visa was issued in November 2020. I entered December 13th 2020. When I came in Dec 2020, I purchased a one year insurance plan. I guess it would be good to extend for another year. I assume the insurance company will allow an extension of either one year from September or December. Also, to get my COE I will need to show insurance coverage so I think the question will be answered at that point (using the LA consulate).

your 'visa' is valid for 1 year from issued date. So as long as you enter Thailand until beginning of November meeting requirements, you will be stamped for 365 days. Again. You need to check your visa sticker's valid until date, not the entry stamp.

@Ellie ******
So if I return early November within "valid until date", then I can get another 365 days or close to two years from a one year visa?

Thanks. Yes it is good to December.

You *MAY* need health insurance though (the same one that allowed you to get the Non-OA visa) if my memory serves me right
