TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, holding an Australian passport, inquires about leaving Thailand for two weeks with a re-entry permit, while questioning whether the absence of Thai health insurance could be problematic upon returning, given that their OA non-immigrant visa has been expired since July 2019 but is still stamped until April 2020. The community discussion touches on the ambiguity surrounding health insurance requirements for OA visa holders, clarifying that there is currently no definitive rule mandating Thai health insurance, and advice suggests to wait until after October 31st for clearer information on how immigration will enforce these requirements.

And one person state totally out of the blue and not backed up with any documentation or announcements: It must be a Thai health insurance and of we go. Two people now distressed, please people do not believe what every harry or somchai is yelling. Read the police orders, do not think what may be ment between the lines, stop thinking Thailand want all foreigners out or want all the money from foreigner as soon as posible. If you think like that, i not understand why you stay voluntarly in this land of freedom, Thailand. For any furter comments, discussion please use this topic, with the link to the police order to read before you shout:

Could you please let us know how you get on we are going back to Australia for a week in January and trying to decide if we need to take out health cover here before hand or keep our Australian healthy insurance

Peter...this is what I posted today in another thread...

"I say lets wait to see what actually is happening from reports AFTER OCTOBER 31ST.

Then we all will know just how Thai Immigration are applying the so called new health insurance requirements for O-A visa holders.

And as one who reads many forums this issue is very important to many Expats who hold or obtain the O-A Visa.

I personally hold the O-A...so I will be watching carefully. And will report back when more is known."

if you have a health insurance that meets the requirements you should be fine. There is NO rule that it must be a Thai heath insurance.

Frankly we do not know. I wish I could tell you with an absolute answer.

There are various interpretations floated around.

We will know better once the October 31 date passes...and we will post what's happening.
