What happens to my OA non-immigrant visa if my Thai medical insurance expires before I re-enter Thailand?

ORIGINAL POSTER
Need advise on OA non immigrant visas. The Thai government is now allowing OA visa holders to return to Thailand with Covid testing and quarantine protocols.

My Visa was issued in March 2020 but has not been used yet because of the Covid 19 pandemic. Normally, I would be stamped into Thailand for one full year upon arrival.

My dilemma: My OA visa was issued with the requirements of Thai medical insurance for one year. I will upon re-entry into Thailand, only have three months remaining on the Thai medical insurance. Will immigration ignore the limited policy time on my Thai health insurance policy and stamp me in for a full year? Or will they stamp me in for the time commensurate with my health insurance expiration?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The OA non-immigrant visa allows for an entry stamp of one year, but the duration may be limited to the validity of your Thai medical insurance. If your insurance is only valid for three months upon your return, immigration may stamp you in for that duration instead of the full year. Several commenters have shared experiences indicating that stamps are often provided based on the insurance expiration date.

I thought you had to gain entry into Thailand within 3 months of your visa being issued ?

Different visas have different entry requirements. I believe you're thinking about the Single Entry Tourist Visa.

I just renewed at Chiang Mai Immigration and it was stamped to the last day of my insurance. There wasn't much in it but it was definitely based on the last day of my insurance.

Which coincidentally happens to be the first day of my insurance. ๐Ÿคž

Not in my case. Nothing written and the stamp only has the generic information. Regardless the end date must be aligned to the insurance coverage because the full year would have ended on the 5th November 2021 (extra 3 days).

@Owen ******
I know why, it's because of the amnesty decree running until Oct 31st and all extensions of stay that are applied for now start on Nov 1 2020. :P
Tod *********
when they give you the extension they either stamp or handwrite on it "issued until insurance runs out" to note what reason it wasn't a full year extension.

On O-A visa entries the rules specifically state that you will get an entry stamp for up to a year OR for the validity of the insurance
