Yes, you can renew your US passport in Thailand. The process involves visiting the US Consulate in Bangkok or using their online resources to follow the renewal procedures. Many expats report that the process is straightforward and can take about 2 to 6 weeks, depending on the method you choose (in-person vs mailing). While some individuals opt to use a local agent for assistance, it's not mandatory, as the renewal form can be filled out and mailed directly to the Consulate.

Yes of course BUT you have to do it through the Embassy. Fast service. All done online and EMS mail. Turn around time with no flags on your field... 4 to 6 weeks but can be less (though no expedite service overseas). Follow online directions to the letter. Easy!

No need to use an agent. The form is easy to fill out and then just mail it to the Counsulate with the required documents.

Yes, I used an Pattaya agent to help me with the paperwork and chasing up the passport return.
US citizens don’t have a passport office to attend. We make one application and a payment with a return envelope and send via mail. The Embassy won’t allow onsite appointments for passport renewal the last I checked.
I’ve read some expats have to send their passport back to their home country to be renewed…being able to do it online and just mail the old one to the consulate in Thailand is a blessing
it’s all done online and regular post mail now. Instructions are on the embassy website. If you have questions you can PM. Will be happy to help as I did mine last year
