I have a U.S. passport. I have run out of pages. i have a non-O Retirement visa and it is extended until March 2020. Please tell me the procedure to get a new passport from the U.S. Embassy or Consulate and what forms fees are needed. Plus, any advice or insight into timelines.

Additionally, once I receive my new passport, how do I get it updated with Thailand Immigration. Again, what forms, fees and procedures are required at Chang Watthana (Bangkok District)?

Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a new U.S. passport in Thailand, contact the U.S. Embassy or Consulate for procedures, forms, and fees. Once you receive your new passport, take both your old and new passports to the Chaengwattana Immigration Office in Bangkok along with the required copies mentioned on the transfer stamp form to update your visa stamps. Check the embassy's website for detailed instructions.

Once you get your new passport you need to take BOTH passports to Chaengwattana get the form they have at the information counter, make the appropriate copies listed on the back of the form and they'll transfer your existing stamps to the new passport.

These are the copies required listed on the back of the transfer stamp form

and this is a THAI VISA question how exactly?

How about you go to the American Citizen Services in Bangkok's Website and read how to get a new passport.

Contact the US Embassy in Bangkok or Chiang Mai. Their website tells you how to obtain new US Passport.

As this is not a Thai Visa Advice question, I will allow it to stay open as you asked about transfer of your visa stamps.

... and, I have one more 90 day report before applying for my next extension... should I wait until after my next 90 day report?

Yes...when you get your new passport back it will have a Letter from the US Embassy to Thai Immigration requesting they transfer your visa or extension of stay stamp into the new passport. The letter confirms you are the same person with a new US Passport #.

If the letter is not with your new passport, you will need to make appointment with US Embassy Citizen Services to get the Letter. You need it!

... ok Jim, but how about having the extension of my retirement visa applied to my new passport? In a related post, Tod, included some advice that the visa stays in the old passport, need a letter from the Embassy of authenticity, etc...
