TLDR : Answer Summary
A USA citizen residing in Thailand with a 10-year retirement visa can renew their passport by visiting the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, where an appointment must be made in advance. Alternatively, passport renewal services may be accessible through U.S. consulates in Thailand, such as in Chiang Mai. It's important to ensure that the passport has at least six months remaining before the visa application process, as this may affect visa transitions with Thai Immigration.

@Ph**
, I'd get a new passport just BEFORE you apply for the Non-O-X visa from the thai consulate.

That way your passport will be good for the duration of the visa ;)

well spotted, that's an awfully sketchy profile for someone on a 10 year O-X visa to thailand ;)

You can get a new US passport inside thailand in two places; the thai consulate in Bangkok and the thai consulate in Chiang Mai.

How about stating WHERE you are in thailand so people can give you accurate advice?

Where are you currently in Thailand ? When does your US Passport expire?

I assume that you are already in Thailand. A few weeks ago you were asking about a visa to Thailand. You say you now have the new 10 Year retirement visa. Is that true? Where did you apply and obtain it? In the USA or in Thailand ???

Should have had at least 6 months on the passport, make an appointment and they will mail you new passport back to you you’ll have to go to Thai Immigration and have your visa transferred

go online, make an appointment, and take it to the Embassy in Bangkok.

The embassy does do Outreach in Phuket (and possibly elsewhere) where you can also deal with it. (takes about 3-4 weeks)

You can do it at the embassy in BKK, check their website quite sure you'll need to book an appointment
