Can I qualify for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand with a Facebook writing page?

Stupid question… I’m embarrassed to ask….

So I’m %100 Service Connected Disabled Veteran… And I have a writing page on facebook… That’s what I do… I write… ON FACEBOOK!!!

Does that qualify me for a DTV??

The requirement states the following:

Employment contract or employment certificate in their country or professional portfolio showcasing digital nomad, remote worker, foreign talent or freelancer status.

What do you guys think??

Is FACEBOOK Considered a “Professional Portfolio”… or is my writing a “Foreign Talent”….

Do I meet this requirement??

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster, a 100% Service Connected Disabled Veteran, is seeking clarification on whether their Facebook writing page constitutes a professional portfolio that meets the requirements for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand. Responses from the community highlight various viewpoints: some emphasize that without a formal income or employment contract, it is unlikely to qualify; others suggest looking into alternative visa types such as the ‘soft power’ option for courses or medical treatment. The conversation also includes a mix of advice, sarcasm, and personal stories about veterans and visa qualifications.

Do you get a income from your writing on Facebook?

If you do and can show payments from it then screenshot and prints of your writing is a professional portfolio.

If you get no income from it, then it cannot be professional.

You might be able to qualify under the soft power rules if you have medical appointments or book a suitable course in Thailand

I do not think that you would be qualified for DTV, Don’t attempt otherwise you make the it harder for anyone else applied after you. Don’t waste your $400. Soft power is the option. However, you also have to pay for the cooking courses or medical treatment, everything has to be legitimate

Why not just stick with the good old retirement visa ? You have the fund for that. (~22K USD in the Thai bank account, you have 70k) come to Thailand with your visa exemption, and convert to retirement visa while in Thailand. I know one agent in Pattaya who can open the bank bank account ( and buff up your saving for 15 mins to meet the requirements, even it is not encouraged) .

The 500k Baht question is do you have that sum (or equivalent) and do you earn an enough income to support yourself in Thailand….if you do, the rest is just paperwork.

Perhaps look at the Soft Power option for medical treatment? Seems logical if you are disabled.

hi Pete! If you're familiar with this process would you mind giving me a quick run down or a link?

I won't bore you with the details of my personal life, but I'm overwhelmed at the moment, need to move shortly, and would benefit from some experienced guidance. Thanks for your consideration 🙏

You have to personally have a legal licensed business, or work for someone with a legal licensed business. You also will need your most recent income tax filing. Most everyone contributing to Facebook doesn't have an actual licensed business, and pay income taxes on any money they might make writing on Facebook. It has to be a legitimate legal job, or business that pays a wage, or makes money.

There are agents in Pattaya offering the DTV for 100k thai baht approx. You only need passport and photos but you have to go to Laos to get the visa. Could be a good option for you.

Not familiar with the DTV but if you bring in 80,000 a year USD, you qualify for the 10-year LTR

a lot of these groups just put laugh emojis and doubt. It’s like they try to discourage people from following their dreams. It sounds to me like you’ll do just fine with a DTV with what you make.
