Hello.

I'm a digital nomad who's interested in applying for the 10 year LTR.

I can prove 40k/yr for the last two years, but I guess my main question would be proving the intellectual property requirement.

I do video creation ( YT / Twitch ) and am wondering if the application would get kicked back since in my opinion my line of work is still in a bit of a grey area.

Any recommendations on how to go about applying for the 10 year LTR?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, a digital nomad, is seeking guidance on applying for Thailand's 10-year Long Term Resident Visa (LTR). They meet the income requirement of $40,000 per year for the last two years but are concerned about demonstrating their compliance with the intellectual property requirement due to the nature of their work in video creation. Comments provide information on requirements, including the necessity of a Master's degree or ownership of intellectual property if income is below $80,000, as well as advice to apply directly via the LTR website to determine eligibility.

The people who have that "test" to see if you qualify are also the people who own this visa advice group and they offer processing for the LTR if you don't wanna do it yourself. Contact them. ..

sincerely good luck with the process. It seems daunting but it can be managed by most people if they just go step by step and upload provide the information requested.

Yep, i'll have a conversation w/ them. I feel like I'd be able to get the LTR, but would be a better idea to consult a pro.

Based on your answers you meet the general requirements for the 10 year Long Term Resident Visa under the Work-from-Thailand Professional category.

well, i'd rather pay 17k for something I know i'll get, rather than paying a 2000$ application fee that will get kicked back. that's why I'm asking the questions.

, you pay the application fee after you get the visa approval, and generally at the same time the visa is stamped in your passport.

About the only way you'll know is to apply at the LTR website, it'll either get approved or denied. I don't think you're out anything applying other than the time it takes you to fill out online app and upload the documentation requirements. I mean you don't pay until it's approved right?

Personal income of a minimum of USD 80,000 / year in the past two years

– In case of personal income below UDS 80,000 / year but no less than USD 40,000 / year in the past two years, applicants must have a Master’s degree or above or own intellectual property or receive Series A funding

– Current employer must be public company on a stock exchange, or private company in operation for at least three years with combined revenue at least USD 150 million in the last three years

– At least five years of work experience in the relevant fields of the current employment over the past 10 years

You noticed the part about an employer? And the Masters degree?

much easier

but don't forget this part "Current employer must be public company on a stock exchange, or private company in operation for at least three years with combined revenue at least USD 150 million in the last three years"

thanks, I did the test before. But the question is about a public company (as in listed on a stock exchange). Which I believe they mean a private company. Or private companies with a certain revenue. It does not call out public employers.

@Lloyd *******
sorry for hijacking the question.. but what about public sector employers? Such as major foreign universities? It seems to be a gap in requirements and I'm not sure if that qualifies if all other conditions are met (including work in tech).

No, that is not how the visa works, it is not there for game streamers, sorry. posting videos and streams does not mean that you are an employee or that you can claim to be 🙁 I think the LTR is out of reach for you - sorry to be the bearer of bad news

It's not a big deal, if I can't get the LTR i'll just buy the Elite Visa.

Yes I'm self-employed, but the platform I work on earns far more than 150 million per year.

@Michael ********
if the platform employs you then you are all set

Well I'm not exactly sure how that goes in Thailand. I file my taxes as self-employed / SP

Very true :-)

But you don't have an employer, you will fail the qualification test

Yeah, I have intellectual property with my video creation and can prove 40k/year for the last two years. just not really sure how to go about it, I was thinking it would be wise to hire an agency, but which agency is a mystery to me.

Michael Ballman what does that mean? I don't understand how you are hitting this requirement. also these requirements seem like they are intending for people to qualify 90% of the way there but not actually have barely anyone get actually able to qualify and use the program, for completely arbitrary reasons.

As per the definition of intellectual property, I own a gigantic amount of it.
