Hi, miscalculated my days. I am on a SETV that expired in Aug 18. I have a HK passport. Is it still possible to pay my fine (500 baht/day) and extend my stay for another 30 days at the immigration office? Alternatively, I will exit for a night. Will there be issues when I try to come back in ? ๐Ÿ™ˆ

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on whether they can pay their overstay fine for their Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV), which expired on August 18, and extend their stay by another 30 days at the immigration office. Comments suggest that paying the fine (500 baht per day) is possible, but the user will incur additional charges for the days overstayed. An alternative of exiting Thailand for a night is also discussed; however, there are concerns about re-entering the country with an overstay.

Okay, Judith Kan, you're on a 60 day single entry tourist visa with a Hong Kong passport and that stamp ran out on the 18th of Aug?

Seeing as that was Friday you will get overstay fines at 500 baht a day until you go get your extension..

If you go Monday you will own 1500baht overstay and you can then apply for the 1900baht 30 day extension.. <- which will start the day your current stamp runs out

That could work, BUT remember Hong Kong gets a 30 day visa waiver entry and you cannot extend it inside the country. AND you're leaving with an overstay and comin' right back.

I would say air entry is not the best choice for you and that you should go get the 30 day extension on your SETV 60 day entry stamp

out of sheer curiosity, how long after your stamp runs out can you get the extend. In this example the OP was 3 days over.

I believe I've seen Tod say they won't allow you apply for the extension if you'll have less than 10 days left after you get the stamp. So 20 days of overstay for a tourist extension. Hopefully he'll correct me if I'm wrong.

you don't let your stamp run out. Unless of course you like being checked by police, put in handcuffs, detained at immigration detention, sit there 2 weeks till Interpol check is run, fined, put on a flight home at your own expense, barred from entering for x years.
