Hi everyone. I’m currently staying in Bangkok on Ed visa (don’t know the exact terms for it) which will expire on 30 Sep. I cannot go back to my home country (due lack of flights) and have a letter from my embassy stating that. My question is can I change from my ed visa to amnesty visa and where can I do that? Do I go to chaeng wattana directly or do I have to book an appointment? Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The person is currently on an Ed visa in Bangkok, expiring on September 30, and cannot return home due to flight issues. They inquire about changing to an amnesty visa and the process involved. Responses suggest visiting the Chaeng Wattana immigration office with the embassy letter, but there are concerns about whether they can actually apply for a 30-day extension based on their specific situation, and some participants recommend obtaining additional documents from their school.
You got that ED visa extension in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province NOT in Bangkok. AND it runs out AFTER this current amnesty expires (the 26th of Sept)
I'd say NO you can't use the embassy letter and apply for a 30 day extension because you are not covered by the current amnesty.
All you could do would be to get paperwork from your school, cancel this extension BEFORE the amnesty runs out (before the 26th) and THEN apply for the 30 day extension. That might work
if I cancel my ed visa, what visa will I be on? Will I automatically be on the amnesty visa? That means I’ve wasted 720 baht for that embassy letter. 😢
you would cancel the ED visa extension, which means you would go on amnesty automatically (which runs out Sept 26th) and then use the embassy letter to get the extension until Oct 26th
Ok. I think I’ll go to CW, Ed visa section and check with them before I get my school to cancel my ed visa. I’ve submitted my request for a repatriation flight (there’s one on 01 Oct) but chances are worse off than winning lottery I guess.
