Hi guys. Just read this announcement. Will immigration in chaengwatana be open tomorrow? My visa expires tomorrow and I have already planned to go with my wife tomorrow to extend my stay.
If it's closed tomorrow. I guess that would be reasonable they will not count overstay for people that come immediately on 30/09 when it will be open, right?

You will be charged 500 day overstay if your over. As they’ll say you’ve had a 30 day window to extend..
But it’s only 💎500 baht just go get it done. Not the end of the world.

my visa will also expire on 29 September and i saw the comment "For service users whose visa is due or TM47 notification is due on such a day, the process can be postponed to the next business day with a fine waived, as the deadline coincides with a public holiday."

ThakhinMizu why wait until the last day? In Bangkok you can apply for the extension up from 45 days before expiry. You won't lose any single day of the 1-year extension

ThakhinMizu in my experience, they waived the fine, great, but they still count it overstay and stamp your passport with overstay.

But seriously. Why wait until the last day it expires to renew it. Surely you leave yourself open to rejection or denial of the visa and then a panic to find a flight out of the country or face overstaying!
Organise yourself to do it a week or weeks before!
Think the numpty here, apart from yourself whinging about, it is the original poster for being stupid or silly enough to wait until last day!!

No that would not be reasonable! Your visa expires tomorrow and that’s all on you. 4 weeks ago you also could have tried to extend your visa. It’s not difficult.

It said somewhere that goverment institutions will be closed September 28 and 29. An extraordinary public holiday due to the floods.

Samut Prakan Immigration office is not easy to reach maybe 20-25 days a year due to flooded streets, even without extraoridinar declared public holiday .

I do understand you want to have an answer and some people just informed you that you can do this up to 45 days before, I can tell you that if you have a good explanation you may get it long before that, that is just informative information and has nothing to do with judgement in any way, this is an important stamp that you need to have, so my suggestion is travel to the office and don’t take it lightly because of it’s importance…
Hope you got it sorted out and as a suggestion I hope next time you are starting the process earlier as at least you don’t have to worry so much about it next time, no judgement whatsoever, just informative information ;)

Ruud van den Heuvel you can easily do it in the 45 days up to the renewal date but doing it on the last day is always the preferred option for people. Why? I have no idea!
Too bad so sad if immigration don't like your paperwork you get to overstay!

If immigration is closed on the 28th and 29th and you go the very next day it is open you'll be fine. But I don't know if it's actually closed those days or not, best to check directly with the relevant office tomorrow
