TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend your 90-day visa to a one-year extension in Thailand, you typically need to provide certain documentation to your local immigration office. This includes a minimum of 400,000 THB in your bank account for at least two months prior to application or a monthly income of 40,000 THB for the past 12 months. Additional required documents may include your marriage certificate, updated proof of marriage, copies of all pages of your passport, photos with your spouse in your home, a bank letter, bank statements, and a hand-drawn map of your residence. Different immigration offices may have varying requirements, so it's advised to check directly with your local office.

Can anyone advise on my situations please...I'm new to all this although been coming back and fore from UK for 10 years...last year I decided to take the plunge and have rented out my property in UK long term...I am currently on a retirement visa expiring Feb 25 arranged through an agent and via Pattaya immigration...what are my financial requirements in bank to produce to immigration for the 2nd year..i have had 1 million thb in my bank account over this year,but it has now dwindled and will be next to nothing come February as we have purchased a house outright for 2.5 m... I don't want to have to put another 800k in this year if I can avoid it as my investments in UK are stronger than being in Thailand bank. Can I do it through an agent again the same as last year or are things different now....many thanks for any responses

if you don't have the money then an agent is your only option. But foreigners can't own land so how did you buy a house?

Go to your local immigration office with your wife and they will tell you exact requirements and you can ask if they have sample to show.

They can differ slightly but this is samat sakorn.

Bank account stuff (Mikkels comment better detail)

Hand drawn map showing location of where live.

Photos of both of you at home, including one clearly seeing house number. (They were fussy in our office about having photos and glued to paper.

Wifes ID

House registration

Marriage certificate. In Samat Sakorn they dont require the updated document sauing you still married.

Save copies of everything for future

Sign everything with blue pen

You can also use a monthly income, 40k, instead of the 409k banked method

What you typically need is minimum 400K baht in the bank for two months before applying. In an account in your name only.

You also need:

Your Thai marriage certificate (the one with the rose borders.)

Updated kor ror 2 (certificate from ampheur, that states you are still married.

Copy of all pages in your passport with something on it.

Photos of you and wife inside and outside the house. They typically want to see you in the kitchen, living room, bedroom, outside, on the street in front with a visible house number.

Bank letter confirming your account and balance.

3 month bank statement stamped by the bank.

Copy of all pages from bank book.

Updated bank book on the day.

Copy of wife's house book and ID card.

Hand drawn map of where you live.

Original and copy of everything.

I am just trying to imagine, that if the guy and his Thai wife already divorced 3 years ago, he would still use this "rose bordered marriage certificate" as proof of marriage. That's why it is not accepted by Immigration. The freshly printed "Kor Ror 22" of the Amphoe is the more actual proof that the marriage still exists
Mikkel *******
@Nongnuch *******
the khor ror 22 is for if you got married outside Thailand. You are mistaken. I have them in front of me right now.

Rose border one is khor ror 3.

The updated certificate from amphur is khor ror 2 if married inside Thailand
Nongnuch ********
@Mikkel ******
Allow me to correct: he doesn't need the "Kor Ror 2" (which is the rose bordered marriage certificate). However, he needs a freshly up-to-date "Kor Ror 22", which is the marriage registry printout by the Amphoe
Mikkel *******
@Nongnuch *******
most immigration offices require to see both the khor ror 3 (rose border certificate) and an updated certificate khor ror 2 to see you are still married. Because you could be divorced and just keep the khor ror 3.
Nongnuch ********
@Mikkel ******
that's what I am saying - the rose bordered marriage certificate is no proof that the marriage stills exists. Only the Kor Ror 22 is
Mikkel *******
@Nongnuch *******
no you are still mistaken. The rose border is NOT khor ror 2. It is Khor ror 3. The updated one you get from ampheur is the khor ror 2 if you got married inside Thailand. The khor ror 22 is ONLY for if you got married OUTSIDE Thailand
Nongnuch ********
@Mikkel ******
You should be able to SENSE that something in your explanations can't be correct. Since when does a Thai Amphoe certify foreign marriages?

the Thai Amphoe will NOT certify a foreign marriage. Only the embassy and the MfA will

@Nongnuch *******
last reply..

Let's simplify this.

If you where married OUTSIDE Thailand, then yes, you need to get your marriage legalized through your embassy and then MfA in Thailand before you can go to ampheur and get a khor ror 22, because it doesn't apply to marriage done inside Thailand.

If you married INSIDE Thailand, you will never need, and can never get, a khor ror 22.

On the other hand, if you married OUTSIDE Thailand, you cannot get a khor ror 2, because you need a khor ror 22 for marriage registration from abroad.

But lets assume that the marriage was done INSIDE Thailand.

In that case all you need is for your Thai spouse go to the ampheur with their ID card to obtain a khor ror 2, which is the regular marriage registration document for marriage INSIDE Thailand. Cost is 20 baht. No need to legalize at an embassy or MfA for use inside Thailand.

The original rose border marriage certificate you got when you got married INSIDE Thailand is a khor ror 3.

I do this every year for 8 years in a row now.

If you married inside Thailand you need a khor ror 2. 22 is not for you then.
Mikkel *******
@Nongnuch *******
"Mikkel Kruse the Thai Amphoe will NOT certify a foreign marriage. Only the embassy and the MfA will" no embassy or the MfA can issue a khor ror 22. Only the ampheir can. For them to do that, you need to have married OUTSIDE THALAND. And the ampheur requires the embassy of that country and MfA of Thailand to legalize the documents first.

You got your wires crossed somehow.
Mikkel *******
@Nongnuch *******
even the link you provided agrees with me, because that's how it is
Mikkel *******
Mikkel *******
@Nongnuch *******
just see the photos I uploaded. It clearly say khor ror 3 (the actial marriage certificate with the rose border) and khor ror 2 (the marriage registration from ampheur)
Mikkel *******
@Nongnuch *******
because the khor ror 22 is ONLY needed when you married outside Thailand. I am out. Feel free to argue. But you are wrong.
Mikkel *******
@Nongnuch *******
yes, that need to happen before you can get a khor ror 22. If married inside Thailand you need a khor ror 2. The 22 is not possible to get for a marriage inside Thailand.
Mikkel *******
@Nongnuch *******
so again.. And last time.. Khor ror 22 is ONLY requires if your marriage was done abroad/outside Thailand. For everyone else it is a khor ror 2.
Mikkel *******
@Nongnuch *******
from your own link:

This is substantiated through a Marriage Certificate (Kor Ror 3) and Marriage Registration (Kor Ror 2). If you had married abroad, either you or your spouse must report the marriage to the District Office (Amphur or Khet) and obtain Kor Ror 22.
Mikkel *******
@Nongnuch *******
you are right though. To be able to get a khor ror 22, your marriage certificate etc from another country first have to be legalized in the MfA
Mikkel *******
@Nongnuch *******
btw I just got both khor ror 2 and 3 legalized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in bangkok. You don't seem to understand that the khor ror 22 is ONLY for registering a marriage in Thailand after you got married outside Thailand. A marriage outside Thailand IS accepted and can be registered inside Thailand. A khor ror 22 is what you need then.
Mikkel *******
@Nongnuch *******
front side of the freshly printed one from ampheur. Again if you can read thai it clearly say khor ror 2
Mikkel *******
@Nongnuch *******
backside of my rose border marriage certificate. If you can read thai you can see it say khor ror 3
Mikkel *******
@Nongnuch *******
I really don't care what you think. I have a khor ror 2 rigt in front of me. It is freshly printed from the ampheur. It is the updated certificate you get when you are married inside Thailand. If you got married outside Thailand, and register your marriage in Thailand after, a khor ror 22 is what you need in stead of a khor ror 2.
Mikkel *******
@Nongnuch *******
the khor ror 22 is for marriage registered outside Thailand
Nongnuch ********
@Mikkel ******
the Kor Ror 22 is the up-to-date marriage registry printout, it supersedes Kor Ror 3 and Kor Ror 2 as a proof that the marriage still exists. Maybe your Amphoe does it differently - This is Thailand were some things never are logical
Mikkel *******
@Nongnuch *******
you are mistaken. I have copies right here as I have just used them. The rose border marriage certificate is a khor ror 3. The one you get from ampheur that cerifies you are still married is a khor ror 2. I am looking at them right now.

Different Immigration offices have different requirements. Your office will have a list.

From memory you need

0 thb in bank for 2 months prior to application … and then a list of papers to photocopy…. Not as daunting as it appears …
