Ok... I'm from the UK and I'm flying to Thailand on Sunday and I still don't have a 60-day tourist visa... I am suddenly concerned that I can't get one on the border... what are my options for sorting out a visa ASAP? I was under the impression this could be sorted at the border, but I think I'm wrong? Thanks for your help.. and please give informed advice if you know about this πŸ‘

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK traveler is concerned about not having a 60-day tourist visa for their upcoming trip to Thailand. They questioned whether they could obtain a visa at the border. Comments provided various options, including applying for a visa at a Thai embassy or consulate before traveling, utilizing the 30-day visa exempt entry, and extending the stay at an immigration office. Suggestions also included booking an onward flight to satisfy airline requirements.

Just go to the Thai Embassy/Consulate and get one or apply for the 6 month METV...it only takes 2 days to get

They might not even ask. I often come in on a one-way ticket and only once did an airline question it. I bamboozled them and they gave in

All they will ask is you sign a waiver indemnifying the carrier for the cost of a return fare, should you be refused entry by an IO. I often travel LHR-BKK one way, no Visa with Thai Airways, never been asked for anything, nor has any IO in 22 years asked me for proof of anything. A smile goes a long way, knowing some Thai even further.

You as a brit cant' get ANY visa for thailand when you enter the country. You would have needed to apply for a single entry tourist visa from a thai consulate in your country before you came here to get a 60 day tourist visa.

You will get stamped in for free on what's called a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp. You can also extend that for 30 days at the immigration office if you need to for 1900baht.

@Pe***
, you wouldn't have a problem stamping in once you got here,

BUT

you might have a problem checking in for your flight by the airline with your proof of onward travel so far from the 30 days you'd get on a visa exempt entry.

Good luck (y)

Phew! I think if I tried to show up with a 10 week plane ticket on a 30 day visa, they'd probably not let me fly... guess I'll be driving to Cardiff tomorrow then!

So my flight to Thailand is January 21st - April 2nd. That won't be sufficient, right? Can't I go to Cardiff or something tomorrow and get a Thai tourist visa? I still have 6 days...
