What should I do if I arrive in Thailand without my tourist visa approval?

Hey all, I imagine this is a fairly common question so feel free to simply point me in the direction of another thread…but having received extremely unhelpful answers from the Thai embassy I thought I’d try here…

We’ve booked a flight from Stockholm to Phuket at short notice (me, my wife, our 3 year old daughter, and my wife’s mother). We are planning to stay for 41 days. We have applied for the tourist visa in order to stay over the 30 day limit, but it’s looking like we will not get our application approved in time for our flight on Tuesday (31st October).

In the case of arriving without this visa approval, what are our options? Will we be allowed into the country at all, given that our return flight is later than would be permitted?

Any advice is more than appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about their options upon arriving in Thailand without their tourist visa approval after applying for an extension beyond the standard 30-day limit. They are traveling with family and their current situation, including their flight details, creates urgency. Responses suggest that they will likely receive a 30-day entry stamp (Visa Exemption) upon arrival. They can obtain a 30-day extension at a local immigration office for 1900 baht. It's also advised to check with the airline regarding proof of onward travel within 30 days.

You can enter on a 30 day Visa Exempt stamp and get a 30 day extension in Thailand for 1900B to cover your trip. Your airline is where you might need to provide proof of onward travel within 30 days (if your Visa is not granted) so check with them what their policy is. If needed Google onward travel ticket.

You will be stamped in for 30 days on arrival into Thailand.

You can get a 30 day extension of stay at your local Thai Immigration office for 1900 Thai baht.

Be sure to ASK your airline if they will require you to show PROOF of a ticket departing Thailand within the first 30 days you will be stamped in on arrival as Visa Exempt ?

If your Thai Tourist Visa is approved after you arrive in Thailand...

Print it out and it can be used for the 3 MONTHS from its date of issue.

To use it, you will need to leave Thailand and reenter.

Show the Thai Tourist Visa Evisa email to the Thai Immigration Officer, and you will be stamped in for 60 days.
