TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, it is possible to get a reentry permit for a Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV). However, it may be more economical to enter Thailand using a visa exempt entry stamp, which allows a stay of 45 days instead of 30, and then apply for a 30-day extension at the immigration office for 1900 baht.

you could indeed do that
but
Rather than spend 1000 baht on a re-entry for a 60 day tourist visa seeing as the visa exempt entry stamp program at 45 days instead of 30. Why not just come back in on a visa exempt and take the 30 day extension on it for 1900baht at the immigration office?
, I arrived two days ago on SETV thinking I would stay until 7 December, but now I will go to Vietnam for a couple of days in between. After that I was planning to do three exempt entries, two of which will be land border crossings. I'm just thinking I might be pushing my luck a little bit with four exempt entries. The flights will all be coming in to CNX though, so from what I gather they are not that strict there. What do you reckon? Would a reentry permit help?
number of exempt entries isn't really all that important, it's more about how long you've been in Thailand. They get more and more suspicious the longer you've been in Thailand as a "tourist."
