I live in Bangkok and work away month and month in Africa, i married in Thailand last year and was wondering if i can apply for my Spouse visa when im back home in Thailand next month? I have 2 UK passports so could leave one if the process takes longer than my time off before returning to work.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires whether they can apply for a Spouse visa while they are in Thailand after working abroad. Commenters suggest that obtaining a year-long, multi-entry NON-O visa based on marriage is advisable, as the initial visa application process might take longer than their time in Thailand. They also mention the importance of having only one passport when dealing with immigration in Thailand.

, I’m now in a similar situation, over in Singapore, ready to sail to Guyana so looking at the routes available for returning but they may change as it will be over 4 months sail before looking at returning.

And just how are you getting a visa on arrival to Thailand? The Thai government is not selling the visa on arrivals at the time. If you're a passport holder from the UK, you'll be entering on a visa exempt

Your best bet would be to apply for a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai from the thai consulate where ever you work IF you can do it it.

That visa is valid for a year from the date it's issued, it's good for unlimited entries during that year and every entry gets you stamped in for 90 days.

You can come in and out all you want on that visa IF you can find a consulate that will sell you one

been doing this since 2010 most of the time just gone with regular tourists on arrivals but due to COVID and longer stays went with Non-O the country I was working Iraq could not use the embassy for obvious safety reasons so I called UAE explained situation they allowed me to do there despite not having a work permit took less then a week and can find reasonable priced hotels might be worth a call to Dubai office to see if they will do same.

I mean even with this covid shit show I'd hope there is a way you can get a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai from SOME consulate :( Don't give up and try every one you can find.

if you can do a lay over in Abu Dhabi, I got that exact visa. Dropped off in the morning and picked up the following afternoon.

what about getting your passport to the thai consulate in the UK to get that year long visa by sending it to someone in the UK who could send it on to the consulate, have them send it back to them and they mail it to you to use when you come back in?

Just spitballing here, because I know people who used to routinely go to the Philippines send their passports to family in the UK, get them to forward it to the Thai consulate in London, get the visas stuck in and sent back to the UK people and then back to the holder of the passport in the Philippines. The ONLY rule when buying a visa for thailand from a consulate is you can't be IN thailand when you buy it and the address has to be in that country where you apply.

You might wanna consider trying it. You apply online anyway for the visa, all they can do is deny you and you're out nothing by trying it.

The reason I recommend it to you is it's tailor-made for your situation. Someone who is married to a thai but travels extensively and never stays more than 90 days in country at any one time.

There is no way you're going to come here for just a month, apply for the initial 90 day Non-O visa and then the year extension <- that process takes almost 2 months to complete and you have to be HERE on that passport to pull it off (not working in another country ;)

I'm guessing you're asking about getting a one year extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai national? You can get that extension of stay. HOWEVER, you can not have one passport at immigration, and leave on another passport.

Are you in Thailand for one month, and out of Thailand for another month?
