Hello,

I have two passports (Australian and United Kingdom), Im currently in Thailand on visa exempt and have done a 30 day extension on my Australian passport. I'm leaving Thailand in a month to laos, Italy then Greece and wish to come back to Thailand at the end of July and until the end of the year if possible. Can I achieve this by applying for a multiple entry visa using my United Kingdom passport? Or will immigration see that I've entered before using my Australian passport and crack on.

Thanks in advance for any help :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
An individual in Thailand on a visa-exempt status with two passports (Australian and UK) seeks advice about returning to Thailand after traveling abroad. They inquire whether they can apply for a multiple-entry tourist visa using their UK passport, despite having entered Thailand with their Australian passport. Responses indicate that Thailand monitors entry history via biometric data, and while one can apply for a multiple-entry visa, the immigration system will still track passport usage. Recommendations include applying for a tourist visa from a nearby country and managing entry with the understanding that both passports will be linked in the system.

WTF are you worried about, you're travelling that much nobody gives a shit,....until you need medical help.

Up to you.

When I entered with my second passport, they asked me if I had another passport. Then requested the other passport which was already in their system from my last trip. They took a cellphone pic of it and linked them.

No problem to use either, but they are recorded in their system now through the matched biometrics.

They may know, but won't really care, the system won't flag you. And because of significant false positive/negatives, unless you aren't being actively sought by authorities, it will be ignored.

Even prior to fingerprinting and biometrics almost all countries use name and date of birth as their initial check, knowing full well that passport numbers change frequently and that some people have more than one nationality.

yeah fair enough, thanks Stephen :)

I wouldn't do anything shady it's pretty risky. I mean you don't ever want to get banned from the kingdom right?

Your post implies you have more of a history in Thailand than your current entry. Changing passports won't impact that history, it will still be available to immigration.

Yes you can apply and receive a 6 month METV in the UK with your UK Passport because you have a passport for the country you are requesting it in…will the Royal thai police at immigration allow you to enter with the UK passport and METV 🤷🤷🤷🤷…the embassies and immigration are not great communicators with each other…good luck

thanks mate :)

@Tom *****
you can also see if you can use your Australian passport in the UK…or ask for a permanent residence sticker in your Australian passport via the UK then apply for the METV with that passport, it’s worth trying if you’re nervous about the outcome

Make an appointment at the Thai consulate in Laos and apply for a tourist visa that will give you 60+ 30 and is good for entry up to 90 days so you’ll have time to travel

yeah, that's an idea. Thank you

You know how they take your picture, and fingerprints to enter. They know immediately your whole history in Thailand, and if you are internationally wanted by Interpol or the FBI.

While immigration will see your history you should be able to do what you are planning

They have your biometric data, fingerprints with ur Aussie passports, if u try to come with ur UK passport so ur Aussie passport show up... Don't know if it's good but i can believe not.

you can apply for a tourist visa (60gg+30gg extension @1900baht) then you can go to a thai embassy in a nearby country (KL? Laos?) and ask for another tourist visa (60+30gg again). That will give u 6months which seem to be just what u need. There's no need to switch passport, there aren't problem at all when you stay here for 6 months.

Dual passport holders’ entry history is linked in the immigration system. Unless you change your looks and fingerprints they’ll know your entry history.

2 passports... two different issuing countries... two different passport numbers..... okay same name and DOB.... and same person. The immigration system here doesn't look at faces...finger prints yes... but connecting them within the system here is highly unlikely.

@John-Paul *****
Er. It does. Plenty of posts on here regarding it.

as if all.posts here are on the level. But as I said...it "is highly unlikely".

You can believe what you like. Your call. You also mentioned that Thai immigration don’t look at faces. I’m not sure when you last entered Thailand but if it’s been in the last few years your photo will definitely have been taken on entry.

Not wanting to get into a vast conversation on this subject ... I was referring to facial recognition by their system. Yes, photos are taken, but the question is whether the system has stored them and then can cross reference them based upon different passport numbers (which are kept by the system... along with any yellow or red flags associated with the individual). That said, perhaps the Thai system is on par with ... say the UK, the US, Canada, Switzerland, Israel, or the EU, just as a few. I doubt it.... given that Thai Immigration cannot get their 90-day system to function consistently and Swampy's systems go down regularly. But okay... I hear you. Maybe my use of the word "highly" was too much. My apologies.

Yup, I saw a month ago at the immigration counter that on the computer screen they have two photos next to each other (scanned passport one and the one that they take when you stand there). Then there was a % bar which shows how similiar these photos are. So they definitely check your face :)

Thailand won't care what passport you enter on. But you can only apply for a multiple entry tourist visa from a country you have permanent residence in while you are physically in that country. You didn't say you'd be going to the UK during your trip so if you're not going there you cannot apply for the visa.

, it is a little more complex in a digital world. You need permanent residence in the country where you are applying for MTV, and you need to travel to Thailand from that country (somehow), but you can apply online from wherever you are.

I was born in England. However have lived in Australia for the past 20 years so I technically don't have a permanent "house" there.
