Can I reenter Thailand after a short trip to Myanmar for a new tourist visa?

I have a flight from Chiang Mai to Myanmar tomorrow. I would like to come back to Thailand 2 days later on a fresh, 30 day tourist visa. Are there any potential issues I might run into? Can I go ahead and book my flight back? Might they deny my reentry for trying to come back so quickly?

Some other background - I extended my initial 30 day visa to 60 days, and now am leaving for my first visa run.

Thanks everyone! I found out Myanmar does not allow visa on arrival for my country... so I actually can’t get on my flight (no time to apply). I will be heading to the Mae Sai border crossing to solve this!

Very easy border to deal with. Bear in mind that you can only do two exempt entries by land per calendar year. If you have already done this twice, you have to fly in or go to somewhere like Vientiane and get a real tourist visa.

CM is not as strict as BKK so chances are you'll be fine. If you have a long history of tourist visas/exempt entries to Thailand on a visa exempt entry, it would be advisable to have 10,000 baht (or equivalent foreign currency) in your pocket as you enter thailand as it can be requested you show you have the funds to support yourself. They can also request hotel booking and onward flight. But again, this usually only happens if you do frequent entries to Thailand.

Btw, if you plan on staying for more than 30 days, why not apply for a 60 day single entry tourist visa in Yangon while you're over there?

30 day tourist visa? No such thing

As a 30 day tourist visa does not exist in Thailand there would be an issue. I hope you mean the 30 day Visa Exempt Entry (entrance without visa)

IF all you're after is a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp (there is no such thing as a 30 day tourist visa :/) Why not just go from Chiang Mai to the Mae Sai - Tachiliek border with burma and pay 10USD (or 500baht) to stamp out of thailand, in&out of burma and right back into thailand to get a new 30 day visa exempt entry?

You can get two 30 day visa exempt entries by land borders in a calendar year (Jan 1 - Dec 31)..

IF you're from the USA you aren't gonna get into Myanmar without a visa. You can get an E-Visa to burma here
