Hi, I came in on a 30 day visa on arrival and extended it at immigration in Bangkok. I am now on Koh Phangan and booked to go to Penang with Mr. Kim next week before my visa expires.

I am going to stay for one night and come back by land to get another 30day visa on arrival. Has anyone else done this? Mr. Kim said there are no requirements for this but I just wanted to check :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user initially entered Thailand on a 30-day visa exempt entry and is planning to cross over to Penang for one night, aiming to return to obtain another 30-day visa exempt entry. Comments clarify that while they can do this, it's important to be aware of specific rules: such as the need to show 20,000 THB in cash at the border and the limitation of two land border crossings per calendar year under the visa exempt method. Additionally, some comments clarify the correct terminology about entry types.

As you are the manager of "One Yoga Thailand", (as shown all over your profile). Why don't you get the correct visa and work permit?

@Cla***
It is your use of wrong terminology that's messing up the answers to your question(s)..

As people correctly stated there is NO such thing as a 30 day visa on arrival :/

There is however a 30 day visa exempt entry :) which people from 51 countries (ireland included) get when they enter thailand without having bought a visa from a thai consulate before hand.

You are limited to TWO 30 day visa exempt entries per year by land.

Also be advised those southern land border crossing officers can be finicky and ask to see 20K baht in cash.

There is no 30 day visa on arrival. Countries on the specified list can get a 14 day visa on arrival. I suspect that you got a 30 day visa exempt entry when you arrived.

Irish people get 30 days yes.

@Claire *******
it depends what country your passport is from I think. I'm from the US, we get 30 days (but it's called a visa-exempt not a visa on arrival which might be the confusion)

Mr. Kim told me it was 30 days, is this a new law?

yes you can as you described. Extension of a 30 day visa exempt will be 1900 Thai Baht at any immigration

I don;t meet the requirements for the 60 day visa so I am planning to do it this way and then extend in Koh Samui before flying home in mid December. So I need to have

I guess better to have 3 proof-of-s for the worst case. Fund, accommodation and onward travel...

Also be aware that you can only do two land border crossings a calendar year if you use the Visa Exempt Entry method.

Why you not apply for the Single Entry Tourist Visa while your are in Penang and get 60 days of stay on return into Thailand. But you can do as you wrote, only thing is it is not a Visa on Arrival but called a Visa Exempt Stamp. Also be aware that the border check point ask many people to show the 20.000 Thb or equivalent currency in cash.
