Hi, with non-immigrant O-A visa (aka retirement visa) , can you travel out / in Thailand as many times as you like, or are you required to get some "re-entry permit"?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Traveling in and out of Thailand on a Non-Immigrant O-A visa is generally allowed without a re-entry permit as long as your visa is valid and you return within its validity dates. Each time you re-enter, you will receive a stamp for one year or until the end of your insurance coverage. However, if your visa expires while you are still in Thailand and you plan to leave, you will need to obtain a re-entry permit before you depart.

If you're leaving and returning within the validity dates written on the visa, you don't need anything to return except your passport, visa, and insurance policy. You'll be stamped in for 1 year (or until the end of your insurance) each time. But if you entered and got a 1 year stamp, and then your visa expires while you're in Thailand already, you'll need to get a re-entry permit before leaving because your visa is no longer valid to enter Thailand.
as I understand it, this is not neccessary if original visa is still valid when I return. It would be neccessary only if I would return after visa expiration day.
