Can I enter Thailand on a visa exemption while having a Non-B eVisa?

Hello everyone,

I just received approval of my Non-B business visit evisa, and I’m flying to Thailand tomorrow. However, I have a short trip planned for next week. To avoid buying a reentry permit, could I enter Thailand on a visa exemption and activate the Non-B evisa later?

Thank you in advance for the assistance!

Update: The officer stamped me the Non-B. When I realized this while waiting for my suitcase, I went back and asked if she can change it. She crossed the information and replaced them with a visa exemption. I received the Non-B on my next visit. Saved the re-entry permit fees.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user received approval for a Non-B business visit eVisa and plans to enter Thailand. They wish to enter on a visa exemption to avoid the re-entry permit fee, asking if this is possible after having the eVisa. After some discussion, it was noted that entry on the visa exemption might be at immigration officer's discretion. The user updated that they successfully navigated the situation by receiving a visa exemption stamp initially and later having the Non-B eVisa active, thus avoiding the re-entry fee.

You can ask but I doubt it as your e visa is already tied to your passport

All you can do is show your eVisa PDF at passport control and ask if they let you enter on visa-exempt instead.

Still, the approval of your entry on what status is at the discretion of the immigration officer. If they say no, you will enter on Non-B and get a re-entry permit when you travel again.

Better not attempt to enter on visa-exempt by hiding your issued eVisa. no one knows whether it works in your case or not. In the very worst case, you are stamped in on visa-exempt and your eVisa gets voided.
