Can you have two active Visas at the same time? I am currently in Bangkok on a 90-day non O visa effective until 29 December. I plan to secure a re-entry permit to fly to Vietnam in November and apply for a DTV Visa. If successful, can I come back to Bangkok still under the Non O Visa, leave without the re-entry permit then enter next year 2025 under the DTV visa? Reason that I need to come back is that I already paid for an Airbnb for the month of November.

TLDR : Answer Summary

You cannot hold two active visas simultaneously in Thailand. If you apply for the DTV Visa while on a Non-O Visa, the Non-O will become invalid upon approval of the DTV Visa. When you return to Thailand using a re-entry permit, you must use the visa under which you re-entered. Therefore, if your DTV application is successful, you won't be able to use your Non-O Visa again; instead, you will have to enter under the DTV Visa. If the DTV application is rejected, your re-entry permit allows you to return under your Non-O Visa.

If you apply for the re-entry permit, you'll be forced to re-enter with the same visa. I think you could hold 2 visas and activate the second one later. The issue is...would the 2nd visa be valid for that long.

I had multi entry re entry permit that I did NOT cancel. Re entered on DTV so you are definately Not forced to use the same visa you exited on.

I have done all this 2 weeks back no issue at immigration at suvarnbhuni and lady was knowledgeable about what I had done and helpful!

No... you can't. Do what you said, others did it before, it works. If you get your DTV they will use that on entry and your Non-O is history. Otherwise, if your application is rejected, you can use your re-entry permit.

Applied and got approved with Non ED. Not sure if the same will apply to Non O. However, upon entering, the DTV was what was used. Not the other one. I'm not sure you can choose which one to use. Your DTV is valid from the time it is approved so it I don't see why you will wait til 2025 to use it.
