MAE SAI immigration experience:

july 4th in chiang mai, i completed and cancelled my ED visa with the idea of getting another one in country, which, as we found out, is not doable. so i am currently on amnesty.

today i went to the mae sai office to inquire about a”normal” 30 day extension on my visa.

my friend also came, and she is on amnesty with a 60 day tourist visa.

i was told by the officers at this office that they cannot give any visa extensions to people on amnesty, and that we must wait for the announcement, and further instructions, as they are also doing.

Unofficial rumor is that amnesty will be extended until Sept. 30. Source: Bangkok Herald. However, no official word yet.
